Nursing Students General Students

Idk what it is. I was so motivated and interested. I was dedicated. I took my first ever therap. exam. I felt confident and proud of myself for taking two weeks to study and go over the material, something i have never done. I knew that once I was in the program it's time to get serious. I missed passing by 1.4 pts (passing is 77%) . Urgh....I hate this.....our new curriculum has gone into effect....that failing any of the junior 1 nursing courses will resort in repeating all of the junior 1 courses in the new curriculum which does not include clinicals. That will put anyone off one year to graduate!!!!! I do not want that. I studied sooooo hard, and i can't beleive i made careless mistakes. I can't beleive I questioned my knowledge....look where it got me. This means I have to work extra hard....b/c the next exams will only be harder to pass. For the next exams I will need to get an 80 to get anavg o 78%. I really hate this ....... I need to move on to te next level!!!!:madface::madface::madface::madface::madface::madface::madface::(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Get all your stress, anger and frustration out of your system and then let it go and move on.

You will not fail this course and have to repeat. It's only one test and you almost made it. You can do this.

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

i know you're upset, but you need to keep a part of your rational brain functioning here. you said you made careless mistakes. so, you know where you flubbed up, right? now, you have to make a plan to catch yourself from making the same mistakes again.

it's not enough to know the factual information. you have to be able to think critically and apply the facts to situations you are given. many students will suggest you get a nclex review book and use that to help you study. here are a couple of links where you might find some help as well. good luck with your next test:

Hang in there! I tried, and tried to get through nursing school. It wasn't until I changed my mind that I actually made it. What I mean is... one day I just decided I was going to do this. If I didn't think I could do it, I wouldn't, and hadn't.

Finally, one day I walked up to one of my instructors, and said... I'm going to do this this time. You guys aren't going to break me. I am an RN, even if I don't have the degree yet to prove it.

I think she was somewhat shocked. I said it very pleasantly, matter of factly, but I needed to say it. If not to her, to myself.

So relax...each night picture yourself passing the exam. Imagine what it will feel like. You know the right answers!!!! You've studied you really do! Now let yourself enjoy it, even if just at night. You have to believe it, before you can live it.

"We always act consistently with what we believe"

You are right by saying that you must change your mindset. I had it in the back of my mind that I couldn't do this, because I wansn't an " A student" and even the "A students" were making C's so if I'm not an "A student" then how could I possibly make it through. So, in my second semester I failed a class. I have now changed my mindset, and I am determined to make it and I will make it. Don't listen to everyone about how hard it is, and think that you can't do it. Listen and think I can conquer (sp?) this!!! I will do it!!!

Specializes in Ortho, Neuro, Detox, Tele.

You WILL do it. If you put your mind and your spirit behind it, then NOTHING will hold you back! Keep it plugging along!

Take your time when writing the test, sit in your favorite spot. Mine was always in the back of the room so that there was no one behind me, I get distracted by things. I was usually one of the last ones out of the class, The girls would always ask, How many people were left?

I was at times an A student and at times not. If I was unsure of a question I would come back to it. I would move on to the things that I knew and ponder the more difficult questions after I had the bulk of the test behind me. Good Luck and don't second guess yourself. I'm glad that you are able to see things in a positive light. Breaking through difficult times is great and essential for the future.

I love and respect all of you. You have all inspired to do better. I passed my health ass. exam with an 80....good enough for me on the first try. Thank you all for you love and support.
