It seems as though everyone is barely passing...
I don't see how it can be that hard?! I don't wanna mess up my GPA either because I got plans for after nursing school.

For those of you with 4.0 in nursing school, is it a BSN program? And, what is your lowest A? At my school, we have a 7 point scale. 77 is passing - 76.5 you fail. It's TOUGH!

I am in a BSN program at a CSU and although I do not have a perfect 4.0 because I have received some A minuses, I have a GPA very close to a 4.0. I have received A minuses in pharmacology, pediatrics and mental health. Good luck - it is very possible to do well in nursing school if you put enough time and effort into your work and studying!

Mine is a BSN program that uses a point scale. The grading is very strict, and makes it impossible to get a 4.0, which is 99-100%. The only way to get a 4.0 is to get 100% on every single exam in every single class. You can't get anything wrong, ever. I can't help but smile when I read how "hard" other nursing programs grade; ya'll don't know anything about hard grading!
With that system I'd imagine a B is 97-98, a C is 95-96....not buying it. LMAO

I am so jealous of people with a regular grading scale! You have to make a 94 or better for an A! No rounding. Typically we only have 25 question exams and that means you can only miss two questions to even get an A. I only have made 1 B and the rest have been A but it has been tough!
* you may only miss one question per exam* man it's getting too late??

There are alot of people in my class that were "barely passing", but fortunately I was never one of them. I didn't feel like I struggled at all in nursing school, but still ended up with high B's in most of my nursing classes and not the A's that I wanted. I had a 4.0 before beginning, I literally had a 100% in a&p, chem, and organic chem w/o any extra credit. I love science and math. When I started nursing classes I hated it b/c while it does entail science in math, it is completely different. It took me until the end to actually like nursing. I really did see most students counting the points that they need to pass, but don't fret b/c I never needed to do that and there were several other students that I know didn't need to do that either. It really depends on what kind of test taker you are in my opinion.
Wow, 100% in organic chemistry? Very impressive! When I was working on my bs in bio, that class was a weed class for entry into professional schools. I was super proud of my C's in both O Chem I and II. Half the class either dropped or failed. A's were rare..a perfect score? Unheard of!

Why does it matter if it's a BSN program?

Well I'm not lying! I absolutely had perfect scores. It came not only naturally to me, but was very fun for me. I love my sciences, I loved them more than my nursing classes for sure. The professors' certainly tried very hard to get me to tutor, but I didn't have time to with a 6 month old. I thought for the first 3 semesters of nursing school that I should of stuck with chemistry b/c I loved it so much. Now from my preceptorship, I do see nursing as the right choice, but it certainly wasn't as fun for me as my main sciences until my preceptorship. The only reason I did so well in nursing school was because of my strong background in the sciences.
Lol, I didn't think you were lying! It's a difficult class, I think it's great that you did so well in it. I have a BS degree in biology, so I'm hoping my science background will help me out in nursing school too. I love science too, but I don't like chemistry, it's not my thing haha...I loved my bio classes, because in most cases, I could see what I was learning about (dissections, studying tissues and cells under the microscope, etc). Chem was harder for me to visualize all the concepts, especially organic! Anyway kudos to you for doing so well! :)

It's hard but I study almost every day (I take a weekday off to do housework)

I just finished spring semester with 5 A's. will be starting my last semester next monday & hoping i do well this summer too
Thank You:) Bio will defiantly help you in nursing school. It will really help you with the disease processes and pharmacology. From doing well in a&p, I really feel like I didn't have to study as hard as some of the others. Good luck!
