Hey! I am new to this forum and am sooooo excited to have found it! What great info from everyone!!! What a great stress reliever knowing I will be able to access advice, suggestions, etc from all of you! I am starting nursing school in 3 weeks and I CAN NOT wait!!! Is there anyone else out there getting ready to start? How are you feeling? Are you prepared? Are you scared? Where will you be attending? I will be at Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans. I would love to have some email buddies who are in the same boat as me....I'm sure that would help us all out! ( If we'll be able to find the time TOO email inbetween studying!) Good Luck everyone....take a deep breathe!!!

Hi Jen,

I will be a freshman come the 27th August, 2001. I am so so anxious since this is my first time in college. I will be attending the University of South Florida in Tampa and I know that I am in for some hard work but God will lead me.

I will have my daughter with me. I am anternational Student from Jamaica, hence, my tuition is far more than those students in-state. Therefore, at my Orientation I am going to start asking about jobs on campus which will help me through the next three four years of studies.

Good Luck Jen and I know you will enjoy it.

Hi there,

I am starting an ADN program on August 16th. I am so excited that I can hardly sleep or eat...I have lost about 15 lb. since I found out about 6 weeks ago!! I have been out of school for 18 years, and at age 36 this is a HUGE step for me. Right now I am taking my last pre-reqs this summer (my finals are tomorrow) and then I have a few weeks off in between to prepare myself for the nursing program.

I would love to have an email buddy who is in the same boat as me......I think that we can all help each other out.....just by knowing that we are not alone when the going gets tough (and we all know it's going to be tough!!)

Hi

I start my fall semster on August 20th. I dont know about you all, but i am soo nervous. Full time college with 2 kids is gonna be tough. Luckily i do not have finals in my A&P I class that i am taking now. Actually, the class ends on the 27th. I feel like i still have so much to do before being ready for fall i.e. supplies, books, vaccinations, etc. etc. Good luck to you all. It will be worth in when we graduate.

Well at least we are all in it together! I start aug 27, I have my orientation on aug 22. I too cannot WAIT any longer! I wish I could be more like Marianne though! I can't sleep, but I can still eat! Actually I could go for some chinese right now! Oh well. Maybe if I cooked dinner a little more often, but no that would spoil the hubby WAY too much! Wouldn't want him to expect a warm meal now would we???

Good Luck Everyone!

I too am starting school this fall.... I start on September 5! I have jumped over all my hurdles successfully (including getting 100% on the dreaded dosage calc exam that they don't help you prepare for at all!), health exam, CPR, yada yada yada. All that's left is my second hep B shot for today or tomorrow and waiting on the word for my scholarship. I'm supposed to find out on Friday if my employer (a hospital) is going to be footing the bill for my education, or if I have to struggle through and try for tuition reimbursement afterwards.

I really hope I'm approved for the scholarship because otherwise I don't know how I'm going to come up with the money for tuition, books, uniforms, etc.

I'm in an ADN program... are you ladies ADN or BSN?

Talk to you soon!

Reb:rolleyes:

HEY FUTURE NURSES!!!

Yes, I am just as excited as the rest of you!!! I am having no problem eating, of course, I LOVE TO EAT...lol....but I am having the butterflies though! I'm getting super anxious and nervous....hoping that I prepared as much as possible, although I was told there is NO WAY to prepare for what's to come! :o

I have all of my vaccination's done, Hep B was done a long time ago ( I work in a dental office...its a must!)....all the health forms, liabilty insurance, health insurance, tuition paid for (Thanks VISA!), uniforms purchased (yippy! I can't stop putting them on!), books, stethescope, syphgmonameter (practice, practice, practice!), you name it! On the 1st of August I have to attend our Big Sis/Little Sis orientation which I am looking forward to, then I go for my first day on the 14th of August....which is soooo soon! I can't believe it is almost here! To those of you who asked: I am starting an associate program but will get my BSN from another college after I graduate...then I will apply for the Anesthesia program after my BSN. Could I choose to stay in school ANY LONGER!! I know, its sick but...What can I do?:p

One more thing....to those who are interested, I have spent this summer reading some GREAT books written by Echo Heron, a Nurse for many years, giving her own personal experiences in nursing school AND then after graduating. THEY ARE WONDERFUL, informative, hilarious, touching books and recommend them to EVERY incoming nursing student! Ya'll will love them....go to the library, get to your local Barnes & Noble....get her books, they are awesome!:D

Anyway, Good Luck to all......when you need to vent, we're here, when you need advice, we're here, when you need some help, we're here!

Happy Studying!:)

Hi!!

I too am starting this fall on Aug 27th in a BSN program at Indiana Univ. SouthBend. I am so excited, but I can't believe how nervous I have become in the past week. I too have read the echo heron books, they are great!!!! I must say I wish I was so nervous that I lost 15lbs :). I wish everyone luck, and my orientation is Aug 22, so at least then I will know a little more. Email buddies sound great!!

Wendy(future RN)

I wish i had everything done. But the procrastinator in me prevailed this time. lol. I gotta get my vaccinations monday YUCK!!! I am going for my A.A.S(lpn). I dont know if i am ready for college so i figured i better start slow, as if there is a slow nursing program. But at least this way i dont have to take the math or biology classes yet. I envy those of you that have orientation. I am going to a community college and they just tell you the bare minimum before throwing you into class. Luckily my A&P teacher has been a great source of info for me. Have you guys seen everything lately about the nursing shortages? I just saw on the news the other day that there are hospitals in Arkansas, i think, that are closing beds and refusing health care to people becuz there arent enough nurses there. Yikes!!!

Hey all :)

I remember being sooo nervous to start my freshman year, both from moving into a Dorm, and nursing classes. Now, I am heading into my 4th year. I am finally a senior! I cant believe in 9 months I will be a nurse, and have my BSN. Then it will be NCLEX time. I have already started working through the books for my NCLEX, hoping that it will keep me sane. I am also going to be spending some time in Jefferson City lobbying (clinical hours). I am thinking about subscribing to the American Journal of Nursing.

Anyways :) I wish you all the best of luck! you have a lot of hard work ahead! I start on August 27... Ill be thinking about all of you! Keep us updated on how you are doing :)

I will have orientation starting Aug. 21st and classes start the 24th. I will be a pre-specialty student at in the Masters program. I've had to move and so I haven't given school much thought. I am going to try and find the bookstore today...
