I like my professor. The final is not cummulative...so far so good. Does anyone have any study tips besides note cards? I ordered the "You Are Smarter Than You Think" book, but it won't arrive until late September. Any tips would be appreciated :)

Review and reread ALL your notes ASAP after class, and then again the next day, this will increase your retention.

Hi: If your book came with any type of a computer CD, I would definitely use that. They usually have practice quizzes on them for each chapter. Hope this helps. ;)

Index cards for key terms helped me with A and P.

Nursepru:

- Look at the Hole's Anatomy website. I don't have the URL

handy at the moment.

- You will see they have four exams (T/F & Multiple Choice) for

each chapter in their A&P text.

- Most A&P texts pretty much follow the same information. So

you may be able to gather some potential test questions/study

ideas from these exams.

- Also, this site has very good outlines of the chapters. Again,

another good resource to use.

----------

- I would look at a study guide or two. Can get at bookstore.

These will help you focus for exams.

- If you have a lab manual issued by the professor (in addition

to the commercial one bought at the college bookstore), make

sure you memorize these notes front/back/inside/out.

You should be able to do total recall on the lab notes.

--------

- If your lab has open hours. Use them!!!

- Try to do a memory dump of your lab notes. Then, try to locate

structures on the models.

--------

- Study time: Memorization should be 3.00 hours/day. YES!!!!!

-------

- Quizes may seem a small part of your grade. But, treat them

like exams. It's easy (relatively speaking) to get 100% on the

quizes. This is what will help you grab another 3 or 4% overall

grade and pull you up to that magical "A" that you desire.

-------

- Again, cannot stress the use of flash-cards enough. I am

using them for A&P102 and am finding my memorization time

more effective.

---------------

- Hope this helps.

Nursepru:

- One more thing.

- No one ever does this --- reason why it's so important to do. Will help you gain another 3 or 4% overall average.

- Start memorizing your lab notes - BEFORE the lab. I mean, start memorizing them a week before the lab. This way, you can concentrate more on location of structure than memorization of names when you attend lab.

- Yes, it's crazy. Yes, it requires a lot of dedication.

- Remember, A&P courses are "weedout" courses. It's true. So play the game for 15 weeks. Get your "A". Then party like crazy and do it all over again for another 15 weeks.

- After that, it gets tough. Something called nursing school. :)

Thanks so much for all the tips :) I know I will use them. I really want to get an A in this class.

A&P is definitely tough. I found the website to go along with my book to be very helpful. They have practice quizzes and also matching of different organs, muscles, etc. It helps very much for lab. Good luck!

i just started three days ago and i have a study group formed already.

also- its proven that if you study a few hours after class you retain almost 100% of what you learned, whereas if you wait 24 hours to go over the work then you only retain about 50-60%.

I have that website for Hole's A&P. I actually use Hole's Human Anatomy & Physiology Book in school. The website is http://www.mhhe.com/biosci/abio.

Hope it helps. Good Luck!

I started last week. I have utilized Holes's web site and the CD's the came with the my books. Very informative. My instructor seems pretty good. I study every chance I get. Alreay made some flashcards. Our first test is on the 17th on 3 chapters. Well, good luck to everyone!

I agree with Bevi....review your notes before and after class...this is one of the main things that I do....and it helps me alot. I am taking A & P 2 this semester...2 nights a week. The class seems like it's going to be easier than A &P 1.
