Similar Majors to Nursing

Hello, I'm a pre-nursing student at a community college in Long Beach. I would like to know any similar majors and/or minors that would benefit me before applying and/or after becoming an RN. I am considering in minoring in a subject, or double majoring because I know that it's difficult to even get in the program. For example, applications for 2018 Fall RN program is open. However, there's only 28 seats left and more than 200 people applied. It is very selective. I just want some more options so that I may get a career in the meantime in case things don't go according to plan.

If you're already having difficulty, piling more on your "to do" list is probably not going to help. I would speak to someone in the nursing department and see if you have any realistic chance at all. If not, move on now. Maybe an academic advisor could provide you with some ideas?

I can't see how double majoring would be an option with nursing. Minoring wasn't even an option in my program. I wanted to minor in Spanish but the nursing program only offered 3 electives over the entire 4 years and you needed 5 classes (I think) to minor.

Step one is .. get accepted to the nursing program. We are nurses, not academic advisors. Please speak with yours.

Best wishes.

I'm not saying it isn't possible to double major in something while in nursing school but if you think that'll be easy to do you may underestimate what nursing school demands of it's students to be successful.

I'd focus on just getting in at this juncture.
