Is it just me or is there something that happens in your last semester (or even last year) in nursing school that causes you to feel like you are crawling to the finish line and you are just edgy to be done with the studying and books? I think I have a bad case of "senior burnout".

I had that feeling last semester I just wanted to let you know that I understand how that lull feels. I hope you can get back into the swing of things soon.:)

i felt that same way my last semester, and the summer before my last semester. it sucked. but don't worry, it will be over soon. best of luck.

I can honestly say that half of the seniors (me included) are feeling this way. We sit in class, and we are unfocused, tired, and thinking of warmer places. This, our last, semester is taking a lot of work to get us motivated. Not because we are lazy, we are just burned out. We gave our all for the last two years, and feel as though there is nothing left to give.

Hopefully we'll snap out of it soon.:D

Thanks RN2be and Nekhismom for the encouragement. I keep reminding myself that I have survived this long and to take it one day at a time. It's good to know others have gone through this "senior burnout feeling" also. Yep "headhurt" , it's a "we've given our all, there's nothing left to give feeling" (sigh). Come on May 2004..... :o

Oh boy, do I hear you. The finish line is a good comparison to express the feeling, I'm running out of steam! I'm in psych nursing right now which is seven weeks and then cardiac for another seven weeks and then hopefully I'll be done. From what I hear, both courses are pretty intense, hope I can keep up. I feel like this 44 year old mind can't hold much more ... :uhoh3:

Sounds like you are in need of a night out! My fellow students and I did this every 4 weeks or so and it helped us all get through that last semester! We laughed, played darts, drank, and griped about school, then we gave each other a pep talk, and talked abut what we were going to do when it was all over. It helped all of us through a very bad last semester.

Good luck!

Yep Rpbear, I sure could use a night out. And Carolanne, I just turned 45 so I definitely know what you mean. :) Thanks everyone for the encouragement.

Molly - RPbear,

I PM'd you!

Molly, that was a great idea for a night out! Wish I had thought of that my last semester!

I think most of my class had that "i've given it all I had these last 2 years, I don't have anything else left to give" feeling. i know I sure did! BUt, thank God, I passed, and I'm going to take my NCLEX in a few weeks. You will be here soon. Just try not to get overwhelmed too easily. Best of wishes to all of you!

My classmates and I were just saying the same thing this morning...will this last semester ever end. They announced today that they would be scheduling graduation photos soon. Hark, I think I am beginning to see a tiny speck of light at the end of a very long tunnel! I think we have all studied so hard for so long that we really are burned out. Good luck to you all.

careerofcaring - Yep, I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. They asked us to put in our application for our diploma a couple of days ago. Wow. They may actually let us graduate after all. 3 more months, 3 more months.
