Pinning Ceremony "Thank Yous"

Our pinning ceremony is on Fri. (yaye!) We're supposed to fill out a paper stating who's pinning us and then a statement to be read while we're being pinned (people you wish to thank, memorable experiences, etc.) We can't have anything too long due to time constraints, so I just wanted to do a simple thank you to my family for their support and encouragement. I'm just not sure exactly what to say.

I'm interested in hearing what yall are planning on having read while you're being pinned. Are you just thanking those that have supported and encouraged you? Are you including any memorable experiences? I've never been to a pinning ceremony before, I just have no clue what this is supposed to be like! Thanks for any input! I can't believe it's almost here!! Good luck to us all! ?

Lucky! We get pinned by a professor of our choice but don't get to say anything. I'd rather get pinned by a family member and get to say thank you. Ah, well, no worries.

We would even take that. At our school, only the December graduates get pinned. The school has decided that the spring grad's get to participate in the graduation ceremony with the rest of the school, so we will not have a pinning ceremony. Lucky us, we can go and sit with the mechanics (nothing against mechanics, but nurses should be pinned!), that's where we are assigned to sit.

We even asked if we could provide our own pinning ceremony location and fund the whole thing, and the school said no.

BTW, t he december grads get pinned, and they can also come back and participate in the graduation ceremony if they so desire.

Wow Holli, that's too bad that they wouldn't even let yall put together your own ceremony.

My mom is going to pin me and while your up there being pinned someone will read your "thank you". I'm still trying to come up with something good, just trying to find the right words! :)

I am in the same boat (drawing a blank). The only thing I know I am going to say is "I would like to apoligize to all my friends and family for being absent over the last few years" :chuckle

If anyone knows what they are saying, please speak up! :)

My nursing class has 15 people in it. We graduate with 45 psych techs but we kind of get more attention. We wear white graduation gowns (they wear red), we wear nursing caps (they wear a mortorboard), we have candles and roses (they don't), we do a nurses prayer (they don't) and we get pinned (they don't). All 60 of us do the "thank you's."

Mine will say something like this:

I'd like to thank...

...my parents for their unending support and modivation.

...my friends for their understanding.

...Jayne (my closest friend in the program), being around you makes me a better person.

...Michelle for making me laugh constantly.

...Mrs. Penn and Mrs. Holt for driving me to be the best I could be.

Hollie,

If it were me I would still put together a pinning ceremony. Just have a private one for classmates and family. The school can't stop you.

Say you all have a joint graduation party at a local hotel party room with family and they pin you and do the "thank you's" like Raindreamer mentioned.

You guys worked hard and you deserve it. If your class is close I'd say go for it.

I completely agree with this - how in the world can the school stop you from having a private ceremony?

We graduated with the rest of the college but had our own private pinning. It was highly discouraged by the Dean of Nursing but we did it anyway and invited the teachers, 3 of whom did attend.

I thanked my family and friends.
