I'm wondering if anyone who has taken pharmacology could give me their opinion...
At my school, we can take pharmacology online for 15 weeks, or as a 1/2 semester lecture class for 7 weeks. The class is one credit, and "part 2" is the next semester, but I do hear it is a lot of work.
I enrolled in the online class, figuring it would give me more time to work with the material instead of cramming it in 1/2 the time, but now I'm second-guessing myself.
Is this the kind of class you should attend a lecture, or is self-study the way to go?

My school does the same thing for Pharmacology so I decided to take a (non-required) Pharm course during Summer I to help me out for first semester in the Fall. I took the class online...and I don't feel that I learned much at all, even though I finished with an A. If you can manage it, I would say the lecture style would help you learn the material better. Either way, I guess any additional knowledge will only help, right!
Good luck.

I took it online, and had no problem. it is alot of memorization. For this specific class, i did fine without lecture.

I took an online pharm class and can admit that I didn't learn much (but I got an A, the quizzes and exams were all open book.). It's a lot of self-studing. And, realistically, how much can you learn about every medication out there? I tried to learn as much as I could about the different classes of meds but didn't pay as much attention to the individual meds. My teacher stressed that learning the classes was very important.
I only volunteer in the medical field right now so I don't know for sure, but I think there are pharm books at every nurses station in case you need to look up a med.
If I had the time I would have taken a lecture-style course (I learn a lot more from that format).
It's all about your individual learning style, though. If you really want to learn the material go for the lecture course.
Thank you all for your input! I still don't know what to do, but I have time to think about it. The online class is almost filled, but there is still room left in the lecture classes.

No, actually I took it at Schoolcraft. And I am done with that!
I ended up taking both classes online, but did not like it. I wanted to take the second one with lecture, but it conflicted with my clinicals. I did fine, but it was a lot of work for a 1 credit class - and I know a few people failed it and got kicked out of the program, too.

Hi PUG,
I was wondering which online pharmacology class you took.
I warn other however, not to take the self-paced course at Indiana university, not only because it is expensive, but the instructor for the course doesn't seem to help at all when you email them. . .
I was thinking of Barstow college. Anyone ever heard about it?
