Do you take notes or just highlight important stuff and go back and read to stud for a test? I have been taking notes and it takes me like all day to do two chapters. I can not keep this up. Next week we have 13 chapters and an on-line program for Pathopharm. do they think we are super human?? There is no way I can take notes on all of these chapters. I am thinking about just highlighting what I would write as notes and making short notes in the margin. i was woundering if this works for anyone

I think that's a good idea. It should free up more time for you to actually listen and think about what the teacher is saying. If your busy writing notes all class peroid then your just listening/writing and not listening/thinking. You can't stop because you might miss something she says but in reality at least 20% of what is said is probably repeated or unimportant. Whats the point of writing something down twice? If its already written for you just highlight it. I believe the saying is work smarter not harder.

I just made note cards as I read the chapters. Our tests came from a test bank based on the text books so I almost never even studied our lecture notes.

I take notes during lectures and answer all of the objectives assigned to us. Then before a test, I go back and re-read everything and highlight. That has been the best way for me to study so far. Realistically, I cannot read all of the assigned reading, I just don't have that many free hours in a day! It's crazy, how much reading they want us to do. So I just focus on the objectives, which is sort of like taking notes but we are given page numbers and specific questions to answer.

:)

and mine are opposite, nothing comes from books, it is totally from the lectures. I only use the books to clarify if needed

I don't highlight. I detest the way it marks up books and I sell most of my books back anyway.

I take notes during lecture, then go back through the notes from lecture while skimming the chapter, rewriting my notes as I do so. I take the things I don't know and type them up, leaving the obvious things I do know out of the picture, and adding the new things I learned from the book. It's a bear. I hate it. But it's the only way things stick for me.

Depends on what works for the classes i'm taking.

I always have to take some form of notes since the instructors teach things for a test that aren't in the book sometimes.
