...was fan-freaking-tastic!! I am a nurse assistant there now, and I can't believe I saw so much, learned so much, or met such a group of nice people in my life. They were so willing to help, show me things, and answer questions, I couldn't believe it! In one night I got to see staples being put in, seizures, the challenge of inserting a catheter in a morbidly obese woman, blown veins, etc etc etc. I am so IN LOVE with that place, I can't wait to go back tonight. Just had to share!! :)

Wow, it's great to hear such enthusiasm! Sounds like you're in your element there. Enjoy, and keep learning!

:p

Gorgeous daughters, they have eyes like my 3 boys.

Awesome, I hope my first clinical can go half as well! It sounds like you are definitely pursuing the right line of work for you!

Specializes in LTC, ER, ICU,.

glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Sounds like tons of fun....keep sharing the details. I myself don't know if I could handle the pace or the stress. Good luck tonite!

awwww another ER nurse born :D i know EXACTLY how you feel because i have the same passion for emergency. i too work in the ED as a tech and you will learn so much! take advantage and soak it all up.

good luck!

:)

That's awesome! I am glad you had such a good time there.

Congrats on the job! You'll get good experience there! Keep us filled in on how it goes.

After reading the posts here, I have a question. I will be starting the Nursing Program in the Fall and have just finished reading the board where they were asking "Whether you would recommend Nursing as a profession" and it scared the mess out of me :( I mean, the things I read about how unsatisfied some of these Nurses are as got me wondering whether I am making the right decision. They are not happy at all. So, my question is--Do some of you feel that you are making the right decision and will not regret becoming a Nurse 10 years from now or are some of you also wondering whether this will be the right thing to do (considering the shortage, pay, hours, etc.--These are some of the complaints that I read).

taronicaweaver,

Come on! Don't let the nay sayers bring you down!!! It is a great job. It all depends on your attitude. Please don't listent to all that crap!!! It is a rewarding job and the pay is good, especially if you are flexible as to where you can go. I am a travel nurse and make a tonne of money! But don't do it for the money, do it coz you want to be an important part in helping ppl!!

I work in the ER. Great place to work if you can handle the high pace. Some ppl live for that and are adrenaline junkies and that is the place to be!! You will see a lot more as time goes by if you stay there. I have been doing it for 3 yrs and still see and learn new stuff all the time. Good Luck

Dabestrn, If you don't mind my asking: what is a travel nurse? and How do you get to that position?
