Hello! I didn't see a recent thread so I decided to start one. I took the NACE and submitted my application to Madisonville Community College for their LPN to RN program today. Has anyone else applied or have plans to apply? I am looking forward to hearing from others!

Hello there!!! I am planning on applying to their Fall 2016 program. Did you apply to traditional or hybrid? So, how was the NACE test? Did you purchase the bookstore study guide? That is the only test that I'm sooooo nervous about! Any advice you could give would be great! I hope you get accepted!!! :)

Hello! Thank you for your kind words! :-) I applied for both, with traditional being my first choice. The NACE was hard (to me). I took the NCLEX PN on 6-10-15 and found it to be easier than the NACE (took on 6-22-15) and I passed it in 85 questions. I didn't buy the study guide or study anything after I passed the NCLEX because I assumed all the time I spent studying for the NCLEX would be enough. I scored a 82 and was relieved to get that! Lol I think you can pass the test by simply using a PN NCLEX review book.

I took the NCLEX PN on 6-10-15 and found it to be easier than the NACE (took on 6-22-15) and I passed it in 85 questions. I didn't buy the study guide or study anything after I passed the NCLEX because I assumed all the time I spent studying for the NCLEX would be enough. I scored a 82 and was relieved to get that! Lol I think you can pass the test by simply using a PN NCLEX review book.

I will be applying to the hybrid program so I will still be able to go to school around my work schedule. I took my NCLEX back in 2013, so I will need to refresh on a few things. I found a great study guide off of allnurses that I used to pass my NCLEX. So, I will have to go back to studying that material. Was there dosage calculations on the NACE? When will you find out if you got accepted? Will you be working during the program?

There were a few dosage calculation problems and they don't let you use a calculator. Acceptance letters go out in October for the Spring and June for the Fall. I have a B.S. degree so all of my pre-requisites are done except for 2 that I will be taking this Fall. I plan to keep working full time because I scored high enough on the NACE to start in the 3rd semester. So, if accepted I should only have 2 semesters and since all my pre requisites are done I will only have one class per semester (both are nursing classes) until I'm done! :-)

That's exactly what I'm trying to do. I would love to keep in touch with you throughout this process. It helps to know someone going through the same thing so you can keep each other encouraged. :)

I agree! :-) I would love to keep in touch and stay updated on everything! Have you been to an information session? You only have to take A & P 1 to get in the program and they take your science scores no matter how old they are (just need a minimum of a "C" and they have to be taken at a university or CC) If you make a 77 or above on the NACE you can start in the 3rd semester.
