LPN to RN help!!!!
Hello everyone!!! I've been working at a local army base as a GS employee (LPN) for about 6 months now. I plan on starting a LPN to RN hybrid program next fall, and I should finish sometime in 2017. I was told recently by another nurse that I will have to quit once I get my RN license and apply for a job in the civilian sector for a year in order to apply for a federal RN position. Is this true??? Just wanted to see if any other former nurses have gone through this and can give me some guidance in what to do. Thank You!!! :)

MCC Spring 2016 Hopefuls
Great! I'll message you my contact info. :) No, I haven't attended an info session yet. I was told that the next information session won't be until November sometime. Where did you take your A&P 1 class at?

MCC Spring 2016 Hopefuls
Ok, that doesn't sound too bad. I will make sure to review my dosage calculations. I also have a B.A. Degree and I finished all of my prereqs, but I have to redo my A&P 1 and 2 because Madisonville won't accept my credits from my LPN program. How high do you have to score in order to start in 3rd semester? That's exactly what I'm trying to do. I would love to keep in touch with you throughout this process. It helps to know someone going through the same thing so you can keep each other encouraged. :)

MCC Spring 2016 Hopefuls
I will be applying to the hybrid program so I will still be able to go to school around my work schedule. I took my NCLEX back in 2013, so I will need to refresh on a few things. I found a great study guide off of allnurses that I used to pass my NCLEX. So, I will have to go back to studying that material. Was there dosage calculations on the NACE? When will you find out if you got accepted? Will you be working during the program?

MCC Spring 2016 Hopefuls
Hello there!!! I am planning on applying to their Fall 2016 program. Did you apply to traditional or hybrid? So, how was the NACE test? Did you purchase the bookstore study guide? That is the only test that I'm sooooo nervous about! Any advice you could give would be great! I hope you get accepted!!! :)

FORTIS - Pensacola Florida
I graduated from a Fortis LPN program in Virginia back in 2012. I had great instructors and learned a great deal in those 15 months. I worked at a family clinic for a few years, and I recently started working for the government as a GS 6 LPN at our local army base. Trust me, the only thing that matters is that you know your job duties, and that you have your license. :)

CEUs
Yes, medical terminology would count. I would try calling them when they first open in the morning. That is what I did because it is hard to get through sometimes. Best of luck to you!!! :)

Hello andreasmom02!!! I'm also a LPN in Virginia. I actually called the Va board of nursing because I was wondering the same thing because they didn't state which classes would count. I will be renewing my license in August 2015. They told me that anything pertaining to your NURSING education would count. This even counts A&P classes also. So, I hope this helps! :)

Norfolk fortis college
I enjoyed my time there. We had clinicals at hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living, and a psych facility. It wasn't easy, but it was all worth it to finish. I worked at a family practice clinic, and I'm getting ready to work on a military base through a company that contracts for the government. So, I will have to say yes to your last question. :)
