  1. I actually had the same concerns! I have not taken the pre reqs which had me really worried about not only the costs but if I could even take them concurrently. Im just about set to take the class in the Spring but I am not taking it at Manoa. I’m not sure if there’s an option to private message on here but if there is PM me. If you are open to sharing your email let me know and I’ll leave mine below. I’ll let you know what my plans are in regards to that class.
  2. @nurse808 Not yet! I’ve been waiting for the mailman every day. Lol. Anticipating it any day now!
  3. Hi @peloton4life, Thank you! I was accepted into DNP. This year, I took some advice that another individual had given me on last year’s forum. If you haven’t (and I never have until this application cycle) attend a GEPN info session! This year I attended 2 of them to make sure I got all the info I needed! It really provides you with so much more information on what they expect in regards to essay, resume & application. For the resume portion I also structured it differently than I usually would. I tried to give them a better understanding of who I was and my reasons for applying as the essay doesn’t give them any info about who you are or your purpose for applying. I also included ALL of my accomplishments and volunteer work/experiences. I went back as far as I could and made sure I explained my skills and it’s relevancy. In the info session they explain this also, that volunteer work is gold and it was something I hadn’t included on my previous applications. I also didn’t include my previous employments from way back (I’m talking like high school/customer service jobs) and this year I did! They mentioned that they like to see the whole picture and to “go as far back as you can”. For the essay, this year I really focused on actually ANSWERING THE QUESTION. Lol. I know it seems stupid but I looked back at my previous application essays and I realized that I barely answered the question. They really stress this in their info session! They don’t want to know anything else besides what the question is asking! I also took sometime to write my essay, I believe I began drafting in June (assuming it was the same prompt). Ive always applied within the month the application opens but this year I made it a goal to submit my app on opening day as it is on a rolling basis! Hope this helped and wishing you best of luck!
  4. Has anyone have any outstanding pre reqs to fulfill? I have to take biochem & genetics but unsure where to take genetics. I’m seeing they only offer it at UH Manoa, so I’m wondering if I should apply for enrollment for Spring to fulfill the course?
  5. So did I! This is my third time applying and I couldn’t be more ecstatic!!!
  6. Has anyone heard back yet? I’m thinking we should start hearing back any day now
  7. Good luck to all! I just submitted mine yesterday. Hoping to hear back by the end of October. This is my third time applying so I’m praying for better luck this time around ?
  8. @tenten.13 could you please share any tips you may have or how you made yourself a more competitive applicant? This was also my second time applying. Although I haven't received a rejection letter yet, from last year I knew that those who got letter without an email were rejected. So I'm assuming I didn't get in again. I'm planning on gaining more work experience with direct patient contact. I recently got hired as an anesthesia tech at a hospital. I also plan on getting more certifications this upcoming year. However, since I already earned my BS, I plan to enroll in grad school part time to show that I can complete graduate level courses and hold a high GPA. My undergrad GPA was a 3.3 but then again I was raising three kids while trying to get through school so now I'm just hoping that maybe next year I'll be a more competitive applicant.
  9. Hi Robylt! Congratulations! If you don't mind me asking, what is your background, gpa, etc? Also when did you submit your app?
  10. Congratulations @futurenursebc ! What track did you apply too? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what is your background? I recently graduated with a B.S in public health and didn't have much health care experience except working in a community health facility and with the Federal program called Women, Infants & Children. I applied for the FNP track.
  11. That's awesome! When did you apply? I applied around Sept 15th. I'm hoping to receive some good news also.
