I mentioned a few weeks ago that I would be having lipo done. Just wanted to let everyone know that I did it on Friday (a nice little gift to myself for finishing the semester the day before :chuckle ). I'm very swollen and bruised, so it's hard to see any definite results, but my tape measurer tells me that I've already lost an inch or two here and there. Recovery has been a breeze!

I have a feeling I'm going to be REALLY glad I did this in another month or two.

Glad it went well! :)

Not much to say - I don't remember it! :chuckle

They had me under conscious sedation with versed and fentanyl. I remember only TINY bits and pieces - mostly times when something was painful or uncomfortable. I remember feeling like he was drilling into my pelvis at one point, but it was SO tiny and so vague that I'm not traumatized by it or anything.

The procedure lasted four hours. There were five areas (so 10 tiny incisions total). I had inner and outer thighs, buttocks, flanks, and lower abdomen (love handles).

Recovery has been pretty easy. I was given 15 Vicodin, but I've only had to take 3 (and the third was just because I was hoping it would help me sleep). The xanax they gave me to take before I got there had a MUCH bigger effect on me! Holy cow, I don't know how ANYONE can take those and actually FUNCTION.

By Saturday (the following day) I felt up to running to the pet store for dog food, and Sunday we went Christmas shopping. The only real discomfort is when I first sit down or stand up. It's not even really PAIN, just discomfort. It kind of feels the way your muscles feel the day after a REALLY hard workout.

The bruises on my thighs, though, are FANTASTIC. It's quite a pretty rainbow! :chuckle I still have quite a bit of swelling (all the way down to my ankles, in fact) and I have to wear a 'compression garment' which is a VERY TIGHT girdle. This needs to be worn 24/7 for 4-6 weeks, only to be taken off to shower. It has an open crotch so I can even pee without taking it off. Picture TED hose, but from your waist down to your knees. As you can imagine, it kind of sucks, but there's less "jiggling" around so it's less uncomfortable to walk around when I'm wearing it.

I can't tell a huge difference yet, due to the swelling. My lower abdomen is about an inch smaller, and my hips and thighs are both about 1/2 inch smaller, and I expect that things will continue to shrink. I've been told that it can take as long as 4-6 months before my ultimate shape is apparent.

Anyway, that's about it.

Woohoo - congrats on that. I'm jealous... well not of the recovery part, but of the results part. :chuckle

Thanks for telling us about your experience... :)
