As students, we all have had to sacrifice certain things in our personal lives until we get through school. What things have changed in your personal lives that just give you a chuckle?
Every so often when my husband works late, me and the kids will cook breakfast for supper. They think it's fun. The other day, I decided to make some homemade waffles, so I got out the waffle iron that I haven't used in ages. When we got done, I asked the kids how it was. My daughter said that she didn't like the waffles as much as the "real" ones that we usually make for breakfast. She was referring to Eggo waffles.
It's pretty sad that my kids think convenience foods are the real deal!:chuckle

Hey!! when my kids were small I used to do that all the time! My 2 oldest loved it and my daughter will sometimes still ask for breakfast for dinner(17). My 9 year old is less than enthusiastic tho.
I love the smell of waffles in the iron...

Hey my family is actually learning how to cook for themselves! How cool is that! When I do cook on the weekends, I'm getting a lot more "thank yous" as they come to appreciate all I have done for them all these years!
Not only that, I learned that I'm not the only one capable of keeping up the laundry! Wow!

My family is still resisting cooking. Ordering out...they've become experts.
My kids have been known now and then to actually do their own laundry. This is only a rumor. I have yet to see this occur in my presence.

OK...here's what I do...
I cook once a month...and by that I mean I cook enough food for the month in one weekend. That way we have nice homecooked meals every day that I don't have to slave over! It's a lifesaver during the week since I work full time and go to school. I just pop the main course in the microwave and prepare a salad and veggie to go with the main course. I find tha DH & I eat a lot heathier and cheaper this way. Give it whirl sometime...I think you'll enjoy the results. Warning...you will be sore after an entire day of cooking!!! :)

My kid thinks the four food groups are Kraft Easy- Mac, pizza, peanut butter, and jelly. I'm impressed that you even OWN a waffle iron:)

I do the convinence food thing on days that I work, unless my family has cooked something for me. I go to work from 1:30 pm until 10 PM. With my little insomnia problem, it is too hard for me to get up early enough to cook anything for myself. I just get out of bed with barely enough time to shower, do my hair, and do my makeup. All I have time to do is choke down a TV dinner! and I never feel like cooking anything when I get home.

Amen, sista! In fact, these are mainly all my daughter will eat. If we buy good mac and cheese, she won't eat it.
We also live on pancakes, anything that can be thrown in the crockpot with a can of soup, and chicken.
My daughter won't eat any cheeseburger but McD's....

When I was in nursing school, someone asked my son (5) what his favorite dinner was. "#7" he responded. :)
I feel much better now. I'm not the only one.

I guess I am a weird one. I cook everyday for my family. Everything is baked and we may not eat until 8 pm but they can expect something hot and homemade. I guess I show appreciation with food. When I started nursing school, I vowed to myself that I would not sacrifice my family's well-being (for lack of a better word) because of my desire to go back to school.
There are definite changes that have occurred in the household (the kids actually clean now, dh is more involved with the child rearing and everyone takes careful consideration to bother me about things that can be handled by themselves) but nothing that completely changed my family dynamic.
There are days that I come home and the kids have made themselves a bowl of cereral or sandwiches out of consideration for me...which is very cool.
