How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

hi everyone, been a member here on the board for awhile, i am 29, no kids but have one of the best boyfriends on the face of the earth! i am finishing up my pre-reqs this summer with organic chem, microbiology, and english comp ii. i start adn program this fall and i can't wait! i was a former navy hospital corpsman and while i don't forsee a major problem with my clinical skills, it is the paperwork stuff that terrifies me! care plans and all that other fun stuff i had never have had to do. wish me luck!

I'm Kathy. I am 44 years old and have two grown children, ages 22 and 19. I have just completed my first year of a two year ADN nursing program. Will graduate in May 2004. To all new and old students, keep the faith. You can do it. I attended nursing school and worked almost full time throughout the year. Once you make your mind up to do something, just do it. Hi, I am new to the board but love that I can hear about other nursing student's experiences here. I am in the homestretch of school since I graduate in August but still feel very much like a student!! I am married and have no kids, just a dog. So far, I love nursing and look forward to calling myself an RN :)

Hi Everybody!!

My name is James and I start pre-reqs for an extended ADN school on Tuesday. We have to take a CNA course and a first year college level/senior high school level chemistry course. I work full-time as a mental health worker and am looking to become a psych nurse/case manager-- although i am very interested in the body as well. In our school we can take up to a year of liberal arts and sciences then focus entirely on nursing for the following two years.Hopefully, this means i will be able to work a little, too. At least that is the way the extended program works. I am both excited and nervous. I am 36, single, no kids, and will be attending a predominantly women's catholic school. Things should be interesting! I have been lurking around this web site for a few years as my interest in nursing grew, but i haven't ever chimed in. I thought now might be a good time to start. I have a BA degree with a double major in Journalism and Sociology but have discovered that my true calling is serving others. Now if i can survive the rigors of the nursing profession and school. I am sorry this is long. Talk to you all soon.

Hi! I am Celeste, 31. Mom to 4 girls ages 9, 4 (5 in Nov.), 2 (3 in Oct.), and 1 (2 in Sept.). I applied to a local LPN program twice, each time finding out I was pregnant soon after applying. I knew I didn't have what it took to be pg and a student at the same time, so I put it off...way off.

My passion for nursing started young. When I was in high school I went to Vo-tech for Allied Health Careers, I was 16 then and I loved it! At age 19 I worked in a local nursing home. Not too long after starting there the state required nursing assistants to be certified so I got my CNA, and then at 25 I became a Home Health Aide. For the last 2 years I've been a stay-at-home mom. I am finally ready to pursue my nursing degree!!!!

I just enrolled in school last week, I will be taking my pre-reqs and req courses starting this fall. Then next year (Fall 2004), if all goes well and I am accepted I will begin my nursing courses. I'm going for my ASN first, then on to BSN, then maybe on to Masters. Eventually, I would like to end up teaching nursing. We'll see how it goes though, I just might change my mind.

I'm glad to have found this site and have a place to come to talk to, learn from, and get to know others who share the same passion. :)

hello,Im very interested in becoming a LVN first then a RN. I take my NET test in Jan 2004 and I will take my CNA classes this July. I am 27 years old and three kids,well four if you want to count my biggest one(my hubby). I cant wait to take my test.Hope all of ya do well in school,wishing I was in your shoes! Glad to be getting all this info about school.I have wanting to go to nursing school for a while, but ive been waiting on my kids to get a liitle older. GOOD LUCK IN SCHOOL AND LIFE!

I am a new graduate ADN and will be getting my BSN ASAP, OK, no more acronyms. I am a Detroit native, love living in the desert now (I just can't leave!) and am the biggest hockey fan I know.
