Hey! I just wanted to let ya know that i had an interview today for an OB position (which i am dying to get!!) I think it went well, but we'll see! Pray for me so I can work where i want to and not on a medical floor which i would probably hate! thanks!

Good luck, please keep us posted on the end result.sandy

Hey, studentnurse

I had the SAME EXACT THING happen to me. I applied for an internship in OB at this really great hospital and when I went for the interview, they told me that they only had a couple slots left b/c they'd hired some "more experienced people" and that they'd be calling in a week or so. (more experienced people? for a GN internship?) Anyway, I called them this past Friday and found out I was not getting an internship -- I was SO upset! :o

ADN, i am sorry to hear that! maybe you'll be able to work there sooner or later. (me too!) good luck!

ADN 2002 and student nurse 02, I am sorry to hear that you did not get the positions you wanted to get. IT happened to some of the girls I know graduating this year as well. In OB too. OB is pretty competitive now days in many, many areas. A suggestion that one of my friends received was take the Med-surg in your hospital for a few months if yout cannot find OB somewhere else and then once you see more positions open up in about 6 months-a year then apply. Many hospitals will start with the employees they already have first. Once you apply again they may remember you and see how dedicated you are about becoming an OB nurse. Find out if you can take some OB training classes such as in fetal monitoring or other OB related areas. Many you will have to pay for but if they see you have those classes they will see how serious you are and when you apply again, it will seriously help you over someone who may not have those classes. Many areas will allow nurses in other specialities to take other classes.

Good luck.

thanks for your suggestion!!

That's a great idea, peaceful, I'll keep that in mind. I turned in a couple of applications today so...keep your fingers crossed everybody! :)
