How do you deal with annoying classmates?

I have some classmates that are about to drive me INSANE!!!! They act like they are super-students...yet they are failing. What REALLY bothers me the most is how they talk about all the drama in their lives (some MAJOR stuff)....like they think it's making them center of attention...but it's NEGATIVE attention because they are making fools out of themselves by sharing their life history....which in most cases is nothing to be proud of.

How do you deal with folks like this in your class?

Sit as far away from them as possible. :)

I feel your pain and wish that I could offer you a solution...the only thing I can do is just TRY to tune them out...sit as far away as possible...and make the "phsst" in the back of the class when they respond to questions with an off the wall and completely wrong answer...may be mean but it gets me by~

well... you should not even be listening sight* paying attention to what they have to say.

that is what I learned!!! it is all drama, yada yada... hey this is not a mexican soap, it is nursing school!!! so...

just kinda learn how to block that!!! the more time you hear their BS, the more you get stressed, less concentrated!!! and that will take value time/concentration away from you!!!

so...

don't WASTE your time!

"who cries the most hurts the least!"

Never associate with them because I don't want to be guilty by association. There were actually 4 girls in my class that the whole class could not stand because they refused to respect and be nice to every one else. They only could stay in their little bubble. These were actually grown women. Sad if you think about it.

I know how it is to have annoying classmates. My clinical group is about 7 people, all but one of them complains all the time about EVERYTHING. Want to know my solution? I non-chalantely asked them what classes and times they were taking in fall...and picked mine opposite. I don't like negative energy and while i know I cant change them I can change if i have to deal with them.

I would advise for you to tune them out as much as possible. So in other words, ignore them and sit as far away from them. You already have so much on your plate in terms of school work and clinical hours, so your classmates' drama and additional stress is not needed.

Specializes in LTC.

Two words : Ignore Them !

Don't deal with them. Don't sit with them, don't talk to them. You have more important things to do in class--like listen to lecture and take notes--

only advice I've got! :)

eat lunch away from them, sit away from them, tune them out. don't act like a snob or anything, just if anyone asks you why? my answer is "i get distracted so easily and i need time to reread something in the book." "oh it's such a beautiful day, i just have to sit outside and read, i'm so tired of being cooped up in the building." or something like that. there is always something i need to read, and i am distracted easily by "drama" and with the add i'm easily distracted anyway.

Graduate!

Put malt vinegar in their shoes so everyone thinks they have horrible body odor...and stops hanging out with them...then laugh. :chuckle
