Hello!

I am currently a nursing student. I'm wondering how you guys clean your nursing shoes? I don't want to bring a lot of hospital microbes back home. Right now I just have a designated place in my house for them but I would like to learn how to clean them effectively without destroying my shoes. I have black Dansko shoes. Thanks in advance!

You really should oil your shoes! You can buy leather moisturizer. It will prevent cracks that can occur if you stoop/bend your feet while squatting.

I know that you can use cavi wipes occasionally. I say occasionally because I know that over time, I think they take off the white paint on white leather danskos.

I usually just keep my shoes in the garage or entryway of my home, to avoid tracking in germs.

I've used Lysol to disinfect them when I had c diff / Noro pts.

Hope this helps!

I hope you have a special place for your shoes you use to go to the supermarket, I'll bet it's covered with germs!

Hi! Same as previous posting. I have wipes in my car and flip flops in my trunk. I wipe my shoes after putting on my flip flops and keep them in the trunk. Then I switch when I start the next shift.

My shoes never touch outside. They go in my tote, I put them on at work and take them off before I go home. I'm the Mr. Rogers of shoes!

I guess I don't ever wear any of my shoes past my front door. I don't wear my shoes on my carpet ever. Thus, no germs. It also keeps your floors nice!!!! I got new carpet 4 years ago and it still looks new.

I never take my nursing shoes into the house. I always leave them in the garage. (I have white Sanita brand.) With that said, when I do clean them I will use a homemade spray of white vinegar and anti-bacterial/anti-viral essential oils.
