Help! Studying for a final cant find answer

Ok, I am studying for a final, question from the study guide is:

How does a nurse help child on how to cope with loss of body parts?

Book for course Fundamentals of Nursing Taylor 8th edition. Can't seem to find it ANYWHERE. Does anyone know if there is a fundamentals specific answer? I know how I would answer based on empathy, psychology, being a parent etc but Knowing the instructor I'm pretty sure she wants an answer straight out of the book.

This seems like a thought question where you have to apply what you've learned. So I doubt the answer is verbatim in the text. You should think about therapeutic communication, coping mechanisms, family role in coping, body image alterations, etc. all of these topics should have dedicated sections in your text. Check the index for "coping" to start.

Depends on age of child. For example, you could incorporate a stuffed Animal that has the same losses/health issues as the child in play.

Age & developmental status makes a huge difference. A cognitively impaired diabetic team with a planned amputation would be different than an active high schooler that plays sports & loses a limb to bone cancer vs an active 7 year old with a traumatic amputation.

Involve social work & child life. Check your pediatric text.
