Nursing Students General Students

I changed major two times already and I believe nursing is the career for me. I went to Golden West Community College tried to register for ASN degree there and found out that it going to take a while for me to be able to attend nursing school there. The stupid waitlist thingy (2 years), 3 extra bio classes (1 class each semester so 1.5 or 2 years) and additional 2 years of school for the degree. So thats like basically 6 years total to get ASN degree for nursing is this a good time?

This is my plan for the next 4 years while waiting to get into the school:

1. Since I have extra 4 years time spand, I'm going to join a LPN program (1 yr) while going to school to take those extra biology classes and finish up the prerequisite ( 2 years total probably).

2. Probably I'ma try to work to get experience with the LPN degree until RN (ASN) start.

(Of course if possible I would like to apply to University for BSN degreewhile I'm in the process of waiting and ill join any that accept me lol.)

So thats basically my plan for the next 6 years lol. Some people probably going question me y shouldn't I just try to get my BSN instead of ASN. Well mainly, because it is really really hard to get into a good BSN nursing program school in California. Plus, I heard that it is much easier to get into BSN program for me if I already have additional ASN degree. Also I'm tired of playing games all day everyday without doing anything. So the LPN degree make me work early while getting experience to get me start in the real world instead of gaming world.

please comments.

It is getting harder to get into nursing programs, and for some reason it seems to be harder on the west coast. There is a girl in my nursing class that moved here (around Buffalo, NY) just to get into a community college nursing program because she would have to wait 2 or 3 years to get into one where she lived in Texas. Do what you have to do - BSNs are hard to get into. Even here, I spent 1.5 years taking my prerequites before starting the actual nursing program in my community college - so I still have 4 semesters to complete before I am finished. You have a plan in motion, go for it and if something better comes along, you can jump on it.

ya thx. Just still deciding whether if i should get the LPN or the CNA thing while waiting. Most people said LPN doesnt really related to RN so CNA might be better.

That's odd. I had no problem what so ever getting in the ADN program here in Florida. I applied, took the exam and got the letter in the mail. I didn't even know I had completed the proper pre-reqs because I was just taking random science classes. I'm not sure if I got in so easy because my 4.0 with being a full time college student for a year or two or this is just a small community college?

Good luck.
