Grade confusion. Help pls.

Not to be rude but are you certain that you didn't fail you final exam? Because you could have an F in the class and a C on BB that will probably never get updated.

I have an F on BB in one my classes because I failed my final and it was the only grade that the professor did put in but I ended up with an A in the class.

Also I didn't get my grades back until today which makes it a week and two days.

But if your positive that your grade is a mistake then go with your gut and take it up with the school. Do you have your professor number? If so call him. Go to the registrar, dean, or anyone.

Do you know when final grades have to be posted by the instructor? If so, I'd give it until that date before contacting anyone about the discrepancy. If it's already come and gone and your instructor isn't responding, I'd definitely try contacting someone as maybe there was an error and somehow yours was missed (which sounds like could've caused the F if missing the final is the only way you'd have an F).

I really hope you get this resolved!

thanks for all the comments. As of three hours ago I got an email from my professor. He lost my exam. Am currently fuming.

Wow, that's crazy unprofessional. But at the same time accidents do happen to everyone. Still, I don't see how you could be held remotely responsible for what is clearly his mistake and I'm sure your CC will recognize that. I'm sure you already know, but only contact him through your official school email or blackboard, that way you have a solid record of everything just in case. I had to appeal a grade once because my professor omitted a grade that would've brought my final average up. I did win in the end but it was a lengthy, annoying process. Sorry you're going through this but maybe it's a blessing in disguise? Perhaps, if you remember the content of the exam, you can re-take it and score something close to 100% and bring your final grade up higher than a mid-C ? Hoping everything works out for you!

Well I know for my school some teachers don't even post on blackboard(they are older teachers and are very old school). But my school usually makes teachers turn in every students grades to the school the next week after finals are over so that our grade will be on our transcript and we can just go online and see what we made in the class and what our updated GPA is from there.

oh wow, would like to know how this turns out. The fairest thing would be is to let you re-take the test. Why is he just now telling you he lost it? Why did he give you an F?

You shouldn't be held responsible or punished for his mistake.

You definitely shouldn't have to retake it.

So I went to the campus to try and find the dept. of Biology Dean, but since finals are over most of these 'important' people are off on vaca. The F is showing up in my transcript already completely ruining my gpa. I had the secretary of the Bio dept. leave the professor a voicemail. I emailed him asking for a in person meeting to resolve this. This is his response

"Your presence to sort this out is not required, so there will be no in person meeting.

I will give a 2nd look for your exam later this week, Thursday, most likely Friday. I will let you know."

I have proof I was in class that day on final, The professor handed back our takehome-assignment homework and I was there in class to get my hw and take the final. I sent him pics of the homework, graded and all as proof. Not really sure what to do now. I don't intend to let up on this mistake since it's costing me a lot.

This is 100% unacceptable!!! I would go as far as asking your classmates to provide written statements that they saw you in class exam day. SAVE EVERYTHING. Print everything off, give a copy to your mom or whoever just in case you loose stuff. Save every response from him, write down every date/time you went to the school so straighten this out. I would wait till after winter break UNLESS your due to apply for your nursing program soon. If this is the case, I would take this as high as possible and if that doesn't work, get a lawyer to get their butts moving. This professor is completely unprofessional. I know I sound over the top but I work my ass off for my nursing program, I would not let a unorganized teacher ruin that for me. Start gathering the statements from those in class with you that day ASAP while they have time on winter break. Have them mention you all got the same paper back that day.
