Nursing Students General Students

It said Congratulations on your acceptance into the UALR nursing program !!!!!!

I am so happy.

For those already in nursing school is there anything I need to start studying or doing now to prepare myself for the difficult coursework ahead.

Thanks

Kim

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Congratulations!!! That is such a great feeling. :)

I would just make sure your loved ones know you will be having to dedicate a lot of time to your schooling and just cause you can't spend as much time with them as you used to, you still love them!

Also get ready to learn a lot of amazing, interesting, cool stuff and learn how to take care of the human body and the human whole person in all kinds of situations.

And don't ever be afraid to ask questions; they are never never dumb!

And be prepared to come here a lot for advice and support and encouragement. (I do! :wink2: )

Take care.

The best thing you can do is start arranging your life to give your self as much study time as you can get.

And get some rest while you can, you may need it.... :chuckle

I know I am defintely getting my family life ready and everything else. I have 3 kids and my hubby works nights so its hard to study sometimes. Now I am just doubting myself asking myself will I make it b/c I was a teen mother and was pretty much told I would never make anything of myself. I am defintely motivated and dedicated to nursing.

Check with the school. My school puts out a booklet every semester that has a complete listing of all the reading assignments and everything else you need to do. It's usually available in the bookstore or you can even order it online.

If they have something like that, it should help you get a head start.

just wanted to say congrats and best of luck!!!

Don't believe that, My mother was a teen mother and they told her because of it she would have to drop out of school and would never make anything of herself. She did eventually drop out...of the doctoral program at a local university. She also raised me and my brother and had a full time career. If you put your mind to it you can do anything.

I was a teen mom as well, and now a single mom too. Don't believe it when other people tell you you'll never make anything of yourself. They have NO idea what you're capable of. Obviously you're capable of nursing school, you got ACCEPTED! :)

Specializes in Psychiatry.

Congrats and Best of luck! It's tiring but you will LUV it! :-)

Congratulations!!

How should you prepare?:

If you've got to take a dosage calculations exam, start practicing now. Don't wait until the last minute and try and do a crash practice session. Become adapt at the formulas so that will be one stress out of the way.

I also want to "Here! Here!", should "HURRAY!" to the person who posted that your loved ones need to understand and support you. Nursing studies is going to take a lot of your time. Sometimes they may think you've been stolen from them; sometimes YOU might! However, it's only temporary and all will benefit when you graduate. I think the moments lost with family because of studies is one of the toughest but.....This too shall pass.

Again, congrats and Bestest of luck!

I just wanted to congratulate you!!!!

I remember getting that acceptance letter and being on cloud 9......

Congrats to you!!!

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

Woot! Congrats.

Relax, enjoy the time before school and don't worry about studying in advance. Life as you know it will soon cease to exist and you'll be studying enough. :)
