I'm up too, I can not sleep because I have Orientation in a few hours! Do you have to dress for lectures and labs too? I do not know if my school requires us to don our uniforms outside of clinical. Anyway, I should find out today.

Good luck to you on your first day of nursing school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I start next week! ;)

When I first saw this thread I thought you meant you would be in class for 9 hours on your first day! :lol2:

But I think I added my hours up and I'll be in school (classes, labs, clinicals) for 23.3 hours a week for the first 8 weeks.. :uhoh3:

Go to sleep, a shot of whiskey will help

My first day was yesterday, and it wasn't as bad as I thought. It was really fun to meet all these people and after getting calendars and syllabi, I feel much more calm about nursing school in general. Good luck to everyone else!!! :)

Oh let me count the ways.

Today was my first day of nursing school. I learned a lot of things today! First off, yes we have to don our scrubs/uniform at all times. On campus and of course at the hospital. My class is from 7:15-3:30 T-W and Clinicals are 7:15-3:30 M and R. Needless to say, i have LONG days. I was told today that since I Clept term 1 and started as term 2, that I missed the "required reading" for test #1, which btw is TOMMARROW. In fact, we have a test almost every class we meet.

Finding this out kinda scared me but at the same time i THRIVE on pressure and stress. Being that today was the first day, we of course got many many hand outs listing what will be expected of us this quarter (my school works in quarters), and what we would be focusing on. This covers: Pharmacology, Med/Surg, Assisting with IVs, and Fundamentals Part 2.

I was freezing today, so when we got our 20 minute break at 9:20 I decided to get some hot coacoa. Mind you im lactose intolerant. However I figured this instant kind from the "shiny happy fun time bubble machine" would be made with water? :uhoh21: An hour later my intestines were so bloated with gas that when I sneezed (cause yes carlos my partner got me sick and i had congestion the entire day literally unable to breath half the time through my nose :uhoh21: ) it felt like my abdomen exploded, god it hurt to even reposition myself. It was quite funny though cause I got off to a really good start with my proffesor and she kept asking me questions and refering to me by name. (I met her yesterday when I went to go make sure i had all my stuff). So shed smile at me and ask me something, and id answer all chipper like while I cried a little on the inside.

Thankfully around lunch I was able to "walk it off" at 12.(aka, i had to "go to the car to get something" when we all know I was just reliving some of that bloating :lol2: ) We got back at 12:30 and she went straight into lecture. God i love it. Theres no fooling around. Theres no slackers in my class of 24 (3 men). And the prof is just so stern yet giving.. I know this term is going to be challenging but at the same time, I know im going to learn so much that i am literally exploding with excitement! Oh and the best part, the hospital for our clinicals is the one I worked at in the ER as an EMT last term! So i know the layout and thats really gonna help me not be nervous my first clinical :)

Class got out at 3:30 and I studied till 7, ate lunch, and then just finished studying at 10. I think im gonna ace tommarrows test :monkeydance: And yes im still congested hehe.

All in all i had an amazing first day, and im so happy that I got into this school.
