Failed out of the BSN program

Hello guys!

I started the BSN program at a university I failed out of the program . I didn't cry about it because I didn't want stress to kill me. This summer would've been my third semester but, unfortunately life didn't answer me with the answer that I was expected. I feel so dumb and lost. I feel so week to the point where I have no clue what to do in life. I cry in private because I don't want people to feel sorry for me. I've tried everything that I could to pass this hard semester but,I was unsuccessful. I don't even go out because I don't want any of my former nursing classmates to see me. I haven't been in contact with none of them because I don't want to feel more depressed. I'm so mad at myself. I don't even be,I even in God anymore cause I have no more faith left in me whatsoever. I don't think there's any BSN program that will accept me since I failed out. I applied to NOVA they didn't accept me for fall 2016,I don't know if I reapply again will I get accepted? I'm going to take some biology classes in the meantime at UCF campus in Daytona beach FL. I do want to be a nurse. I'm currently working as a nurse tech ,words can't express the connections that I've made with those patients. I lose weight,I let my single mom down because she sacrifices so much for me. I don't know what to do. Please help. Does anyone know any school that will accept me? I don't mind starting over.

Does your university have a process to be able to be re-admitted to the program? I know our program allowed a 2nd chance if the student wrote up an academic plan on how they'd be successful the 2nd time. It might be worth pursuing with your nursing advisor.

You might want to see if you can get in to some ADN programs if you can't get readmitted to your university.

Good luck!

Although I did not fail out of nursing school, I did fail a semester, so i do have some understanding of how you are feeling. I was depressed and had a lots of self doubt , but in the end I pushed through and graduated from school. I had some classmates that repeated too and then failed another class which got them kicked out of the program. Some of the them have started in the lpn program and have been doing very well, your best bet would be try an lpn program then bridge to an RN program. Take some time off, to regroup, and then try again.

I think you need to figure out why you failed and what you will do differently the next time around before you do anything else. Once you have a good idea of your plan of attack, look around for a new nursing school.

Samantha95, I'm sorry you are going through this experience. After a failed test, did you promptly meet with your professor(s) to go over the test, what you picked and why, along with the rationales for the correct answer(s)? If not, that's one of the number one habits to develop. If not, I would try to find out if you could still meet up with them to go over the exams, your notes, etc. to try and work out what to do differently next time.

God is GOOD under all circumstances, whether we succeed or fail; I realize you are not there yet to realize that part of faith. I pray you get there one day.

As others have shared, don't give up. Do work towards finding out what where the barriers to your succeeding (if you didn't meet with your professors, I strongly encourage you to try as they will be among your best sources for improvement).

As at least one other suggested, contact the nursing department to see if there's a second chance route. If not, check local community colleges to see if you could go that route.

I failed out of a nursing program at the tender age of 19; I had all those feelings and didn't return to the program; I eventually dusted myself off, completed a PN program to prove that I can successfully complete a nursing program. I worked a few years as a LPN and successfully completed a BSN program and have been working as an RN for 4 years.

Failures only set up one for successes; give yourself time; reflect on what options you have, make an improvement plan, and then make a choice.

Best wishes.

No they will not accept me. Only after 10 years.

I think that's what I'm going to do as well.

Keep trying there are tons of programs out there! I am in a different state but I to failed out of a program in my 3rd semester as well. Got accepted into a new one and had to start over but now my knowledge on the class I failed is much better, not every program works for everyone just like not every learning style works for everyone! Stay positive! Easier said then done believe me I remember, but I also just graduated with my BSN in May after having been through the same thing you are going through so don't lose faith! It's stinks now but when you get accepted into a new program and finish it is well worth it! Keep us posted! I wish you the best of luck!!

My sister failed out of her first nursing school, she transferred to another program and has been a nurse for decades now! :) There is nursing after a failure.. try applying to other programs. Good luck.
