Hi all,
I plan to enter nursing school in September, and I am finished with all pre-reqs. I will be twiddling my thumbs for seven months. Is there anything I can study to help prepare me??
Thanks in advance!

If your footing is solid in your A&P, I'd recommend searching youtube for freshman Chem. and Bio lectures from Cal-Berkeley (both) and MIT (Chem). Start looking at nursing skills vids and nursing process primers as well. The CNA idea already suggested would give you an intro to these last two topics.

i say enjoy your time "off" You won't have much of it once September rolls around. Relax, and enjoy your pre-nursing school days. They'll teach you everything they want you to know once you start.

Enjoy your friends and family now while you have the chance. Take a vacation. Read the books that you want to read. Go out to dinner. Go to movies. Sleep late. Once school starts you can kiss those things goodbye!

Do a little of each - work a little, play a little, and review review review. You will thank yourself for it layer - just A&P - chemistry & biology you should've already done by now and at least in my program we aren't studying those as pure sciences anymore. It's all about clinical application, pharmacology and pathophysiology.
With my program they posted materials early - 2 weeks before the term started. It's a good idea to take them up on it if they offer for you to start reading early. I didn't do that and I regretted it.
Also, check with some current nursing students in your program. Some programs start off in the 1st term VERY EASY. The 2nd term is hell on wheels - and that's when the reviewing in summer is helpful. It all comes back to haunt (the things we forget). Congrats on getting in.

1) Volunteer at your local hospital, VA Hospitals could really use the help if you have one in your area.
2) Make Barnes and Noble your new favorite store.
3) Go to the gym.
That is what I did, it helped. Good luck!
Thanks to all for the replies! I think I will take a little of all advise. I will brush up an A and P. I also decided to take my 14 year old on a road trip; visit relatives in Cali and go to Disneyland!!!!
Brushing up on A&P? I recommend you watch Marion Diamond's lectures:

I would buy the saunders nclex review book and start learning med surg! Theres a lot to know and it can't hurt to start to prepare yourself. Definitely enjoy this time off though because once you start nursing school its a tough road!
