I know that I have to call my insurance company to find out the answer but I am scared that I may open up a can of worms. I work for a plumbing company. I am wondering if they would be against the idea of me being a Nursing student. Do you think it may be a problem?

Hepatitis B is recommended for adults by the CDC, I believe most insurance companies will cover it. Does your insurer have a website you can check?

What does calling your insurance company have to do with your employer finding out you're in nursing school? Different insurance companies pay for different items. Some insurance companies will not pay for vaccinations once you're over 21. Have you considered obtaining employment at a local hospital?
I'd love nothing more than obtaining employment at a local hospital but my wife is a stay at home mom and I couldn't afford to take a paycut which would most likely be the case unless I could find a good entry level position.

If you are having a Hep B vax done at your physician's office, they could call and see if the benefit is covered by your insurance company. Otherwise you could call the insurance company directly by looking for a customer service number on the back of your card. You want to "verify benefits."
Other places to get Hep B vax would be your health department or a traveler's health department.
And yes, it might be a problem if your plumbing company employer found out you were in nursing school. At the very least, they would be less likely to invest in you, from a purely logical point of view.

Mine was partially covered, but I ended up forking over $30 anyeay. I did a little research and went to a clinic at a Super Wallmart. I got my last two shots for $20 each.
If you are currently doing plumbing work, I would think that Hepatitis B vaccine (and Hepatitis A) would be recommended to protect you from occupational exposure.

Check your policy. Mine covers vaccinations with certain stipulations that I can't remember right now. Like it wouldn't cover them for travel, but it would for school? Anyway, all I had to pay was my copay for an office visit.
Your employer should not be able to find out what you are going to the doctor's for. That seems like a huge HIPPA violation.
