well, i missed the announcement that we were only using brunner and shaddarth's edition as a reference and the "main" med/surg book will be ignatavicius 4/e. went to purchase it and it's sold out.

was also giving lecture and clinical times that were different from print out from registration (unclear at least).

monday and thursday will be lecture from 8-11 and tuesday and wednesday will be clinical for adult i (eight weeks, 6 exams and a final)

then on to ob for the next 8 weeks.

we start clinicals on the 21st and have to be on site at 6:45 am until 3p. i must make arrangement for my children, this i wasn't prepared for!.

i was sure relieved to know i wasn't the only one who had things off a little.

well, it studying time again, and i am tired before i get started!

Our school is also infamous in lack of communication. Things were worse when I was pre-program. I could go on and on about it, but it comes down to being proactive. If you don't seek out verification, you can pretty much guarantee it's wrong. I've been sent to the wrong clinical site, sent for hospice nursing in which the patient had died and I walked into a whole family of upset people, etc....

I know exactly how you are feeling. Last semester they changed our schedules half way through...completely different, and you know how much notice we got, a week end.. they told us on friday that monday would be different. All of our grades were flung from teacher to teacher, it was totally screwed up. None of us were happy, including the profs. We are all waiting and holding our breaths now, since they SAID we wont have to change. We will see what the next 7 weeks bring and if it gets screwed up on the way to our next rotation.......

Ours seems to be lacking in this are too...

They changed the format of all of our pre-clinical paperwork (adding about 2 hours per pt) I was up till 1 am Saturday morning and still didn't have it all done - went in to the hospital at 5:30 to finish up... and that was only for 1 patient next week we get 2 I guess I'll have to learn to live on NO sleep.

Good luck and I hope the child care issue works out...
