It depends on how much time you have to devote to your studies.

I was a newbie to all these courses in January. But I made it a priority to study often. I took Chemistry On-line and received a B It was tough so I recommend you attend a class for that course.

My A&P course seemed to be a lot of memorization and a few interesting labs but nothing that seemed to difficult. In the end a got an A.

Microbiology was the most fascinating and challenging. During the course part of the assignment required identifying an unknown microorganism from a culture. That was awesome and I thought I identified it correctly unfortunately I did not. Yet I took home a B.

My advice is to stay committed and if you're instructors give you an opportunity to do extra credit assignments go for it. Fortunately I had that offered to me and since I took advantage of the e.c. I was able to do well.

If you're looking for a less challenging semester I would recommend taking only A&P and Chemistry.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

Between lab and lecture, micro was the first class that started me putting together critical thinking skills and technique. It was deceptively challenging. My favorite and most challenging science class.

I agree there's a lot of memorization in A&P but it's more than that. Especially when you start getting into cardiac and renal physiology... usually covered in A&PII. A&P requires a lot of time outside of the classroom for study. In my experience, it was my most time intensive course of all the prerequisites. I used to put in anywhere between 15 to 20 hours a week outside of class time into study just for A&P. Got "A"s.

Chem was also a lot of memorization combined with math. A lot of formulas and laws to memorize. I got a B in chem. It was a tough course.

A&P isn't hard, just time-consuming. Micro wasn't that difficult, either. I don't know about Chem, since I'm not required to take it. Good luck!

Well, they're all hard. About 80 percent of the students flunk those classes at my school.

BUT, most of those people don't study.

Expect to put a lot of time in at the beginning. Once you grasp the material, it does get easier, although you still have to stay on top of it.

I have taken all those classes and received A's in them all.

The thing with those classes is not that the material is so incredibly hard, it is the *volume* of material you will be learning that makes it hard. And volume = time studying outside of class.

Just as long as you have the time to study and keep up with any of those classes you will do fine!

Thank you ck2rn2005, RNKittyKat, nurse2be in ny, lizz, marilynmom,

for answering- I know they are all hard- what science isn’t. I now have a better retrospect of what to expect- Lots of studying is planned- too bad I have an 18CR load this semester-

Ive bought a few A&P reference books- I want to have a head start. Thanks again to everyone!

With that I think I’ll take Chemistry over the summer

Thanks again!!

Don't hesitate to drop some courses because that IS such a heavy load!

Especially if you're taking tough science courses.

I took Chemistry and Micro in the summer. To me, Chemistry was hard and boring, and although it was very intense because it's condensed into a short period, I'm SO GLAD I took it in the summer because I couldn't bear to suffer through that class for an entire semester. I found Micro fascinating and would have loved to have had an entire semester of that class. Good luck to you!

Wow, are you taking those together? If you know the metric system, it would be helpful for chem. I would not take a hard class like that over the summer session. :specs:

I think they are all challenging for certain. the most difficult for me of those classes was probably A&P. there is alot of information to know. Good luck!:)
