the nursing receptionist at our college is not student friendly, she treats all nursing students like they are burdens and she clearly doesnt like us or like her job, one or the other.. well today.. she was walking outside and she accidently tripped on a brick flower box or something or other and she tumbled to the ground, fortunately she was fine, just a little limp.

i swear no one moved that flower box, it's made of bricks.

it is sad how some thread others. i am glad she is fine, but why be so unkind to people! maybe i will never understand.

tell me, are there folks on this board too that like very few instructors at their school? i would say i'm a pretty nice guy, but man am i able to find faults in the instructors there. last quarter's teacher graded a paper (i thought i did well) really low and it brought my grade way down. i call her the devil incarnate for various reasons and fully believe she's capable of malice. lol i know i sound like i'm talking about the third reich! anybody else out there have to make fun of their teachers daily just to survive?

zach, i know exactly how you feel!! a couple of our instructors have slight speech problems. one cannot say "library" she always says "libary" along with a few other words that she can't seem to get correct. another instructor has a major lisp problem and her lectures are very boring on top of that. she basically reads the slides word-for-word plus gives us copies of them. i can take them home and read for myself...what a waste of time. if i knew either of these two instructors in any other place or time, my classmates and i would not be making fun of them (i am not that type of person), but in order to get through the long days, we do kid around about not sitting in the front row or else we'll get a bath. please don't any one take offense to this, as i said...another place, another time. one instructor seems to wear one of two dresses every time she lectures...we joke around about that. and there are other things as well.

don't feel like you are the only one with nazi instructors...we have them too.

good luck this semester...it will get (not easier), but more comfortable.

could it be that we attend the same school?? lol :chuckle our office personnel is the exact same way. you try to be kind and friendly to them and they act like you are putting them out. say for instance...the copier ran out of paper the other day, i asked one of the ladies if she could get some more paper (they keep it in the back so that we can't get to it) and she just huffed and stomped her feet (with her flip flop sandals popping...which is one thing i can't stand) into the library and got the paper. when the paper was placed in the copier, she gave it an extra heave-ho that was not necessary. i know, because i later had to open the drawer and shut it myself. they always let out loud sighs any time they have to do anything for us, some of which, if they would change things just a little would make their lives easier with fewer interruptions.

anyway, i certainly understand where you are coming from. almost makes you not want to ask them anything, doesn't it??

good luck this semester.

shonda,

that's it! i don't normally make fun of people but because of the stress we endure, we have to make fun of our teachers to survive! at least i'm not alone :).

ps my instructors have word problems too. one insists on saying "scalpel" as "scalpel" like she's attempting to speak french..who knows lol!

shonda, do they charge you 10 cents per copy??? lol.. i have a copier at home but some students told me that she charges 10 cents !!

another student and myself went to her to pick up our photo id badges and she had a hissy fit, said that the whole class should come together... well don't you know that she brought the photo id's to the class and left the box there so students wouldn't come to her desk .. ugh..

good luck to you too shonda ! :)

Yes, they do charge 10 cents per copy. If you copy the front and back of a page they charge you 20 cents. They say that it's because of the NUMBER of copies...not sheets of paper. I try not to use the copier there unless I have to, as I also have a copier at home. But we can't check out resource books (have multiple copies of magazine articles in them), so therefore I had to use their copier.

Well, I'm gonna close for now. Gotta finish up here and get to bed...4 a.m. comes early for work tomorrow. Everyone have a great weekend and find some time for yourself.

God Bless and keep you all safe!!

want to hear about the dumbest girl EVER (not exagerating) we are doing an OBS rotation and we are getting a tour of the unit and there is a baby in one of the rooms and the mom is doing a diaper change. The baby can sort of sit up and has good head control and is fairly large. This dumb girl turns to me and says "Is that a new born?" I laughed right in her face...but its scary..shes caring for new borns and has never seen one....is that a new born....

Since this is a vent thread, I'll keep using it !.

There was this guy in my nutrition class, he was taking it for the 2nd time, he failed it again.. well he hardly ever showed up for class.. I overheard a student talking, she was sitting next to me in the lounge.. she said that the school told him that they would make sure that he graduated.

OK, why does he get special treatment !! students work their butt off, attend class, and this guy slacks off and the school is going to make sure that he gets out??? hello, what's wrong with this picture??

So if the school is telling him that he will graduate obviously with their help.. where is the motivation for him to try to do well? Is it because he has fathered children out of wedlock? He is working as a CNA now. Is helping him out of school going to make him a good nurse??? I think not. He doesnt' even want to help himself. :(

Bleh, and again I say bleh...if anyone in my program fails a class, they are out of the program, kaput, poof, that's it. That SO sucks that this guy is skating through with school help.

:D Sorry guys, but I only have good things to say about my LPN school! We have great instructors! The test haven't been too bad! Yet! We have started clinicals at the Nursing Homes. Only thing bad about that is seeing the lack of quality these patients have of a life! I am in a large class, and like pretty much everybody! Feel like I don't have enough time to study for some tests, but thats how it is I guess! Only bad thing about school is that I never get to come to allnurses.com anymore, and I feel like I never get enough time to listen to music anymore! But, the year is still young, ask me in a couple of weeks, I might have more to complain about!
