Any other Military spouse students here?

Are you basing the program you choose on your current orders and when you are expected to transfer?

Have you started a program and then had to move before you finish?

We have 17 years in the Navy, 13 of it married, I am now starting my 3rd attempt to finish my schooling. I have attended the University of Rhode Island, Trident Technical College (SC) and now Tidewater Technical College (VA) and hope to finish finally. We just received orders to stay here another 4 years, so I am going to just get it done. One of the worst parts of starting the program all over the country is not all classes are transferable, that was a surprise to me, and an elbow to the eye. None of my math transfered! NOT ONE CLASS!

I am pretty sure korea is my husbands next stop. Long story there but anyways. I would love for us to go with him but if I'm still in school i have to agree with staying behind and catching up with him.

I stayed behind this time, even though he is no longer in! He got a job last July with the DoD and he couldn't say no. I was half way through NS, so I couldn't quit. It sucks, majorly! But, we know in the end it's what's best. I had the kids July-Jan and he took the kids after. That is what is tough, not having my kids. I am so lost without them! But, we also knew that 4th semester was going to be very difficult as a single mom, and decided it was best for him to have them so I can do what I have to to pass. Less than 8 weeks till graduation and 10 weeks till I see them all again!!

Congratulations on your accomplishment. I have an 18 month old and being a sahm through the nursing program scares me due to the intensity. I hope that doesn't sound bad. Its amazing to think he will be 4 almost 5 when i finish.

I'm a military spouse as well!! Been married for 10 years and we have three kids. This is our 5th duty station. I got really lucky and my husband got order for a teaching position and now we are stable for a few years. The college I attend offers an ASN just for military and dependents (it's funded partly by Army Medical Command) and we are the first of its kind! It's really exciting and we are the trial run for this program to be incorporated into other military posts around the US. Our class size is only 12 students.

That sounds awesome! Where are you located?

We are stationed at Fort Benning. Once we had orders for the area, i started looking at programs and it caught my eye. I was able to start on the per reqs online before we moved. Once I graduate, I plan on going though my colleges RN to BSN program

Wow that sounds amazing! We are at altus afb and there are literally tumbleweeds blowing around here. This place reminds me of a modernized old west town lol. I wish we had something like that. I really do like my school though. I also plan to go for my bsn.

That is in OKC right? My fiancee has some friends that PCS to Altus. Do you like the base?

Its closer to texas than okc. Okc is about 3 hours east of altus. I actually do like it here. Some of the people aren't firing on all sparkplugs but other than that its a good place for a family. Lawton is about 45 minutes away and there's plenty to do there. There's a walmart , sears, jcpenney, and a few clothing stores. A lot if people who get stationed here have been here for 5-10+ years.

That sounds great! I guess anything is better than getting something like a Minot ;)

I actually really like the Air Force. My dad did 20+ years in so I was pretty excited when my fiancee joined. He is currently stationed at Dover, so not too far from where I live. But we are hoping for something new (western coast) when he gets his new duty station.

We are from the east coast with overprotective parents so Oklahoma was amazing news lol. I married air force but my family is full of marine and army vets. Boy did my hubs get an ear full lol.
