Nursing Students School Programs

Hi, have anyone in here graduated from antigua college international in miami fl? I cant find what kind of accreditation they have. Thank you.

I recently finished all of my nursing courses at Antigua College International and I am now studying for my nursing boards. They are approved by the State of Florida (Search here to confirm this: Florida Board of Nursing - Licensing, Renewals & Information ) When a school is approved, upon completing all required courses you're eligible to sit for your boards. They are currently working on accreditation because its still a relatively new school.

Now that that's clarified, I wanted to say this school is great. The teachers not only teach very well, there is SOOO much supplemental education provided free of cost to students. Almost every night of the week there are NCLEX review content and strategy classes. This is free to students or can be purchased separately for those who haven't passed the NCLEX yet and need a remedial course. Diony and Jose, the primary overseers of the college and directors of the content and strategy classes, are foreign physicians who became nurse practitioners here in the U.S. In other words, they have VERY SOLID knowledge in the medical field. They are highly fluent in both English and Spanish, so they can communicate and teach ALL students. They have a very practical approach and genuinely make nursing extremely easy to understand. Their content and strategy classes were amazing when I took them.

Even now that I am reviewing for the boards using Uworld, I can hear their voices as I read questions. Classes are one class per month type of rotation, so buckle up and prepare to work. The good thing, for most students who have to work, is they offer day and night classes. You'll find a mix of students from all places, ages, and career backgrounds. In my group, there were MANY foreign physicians and it was awesome because I learned a lot from them as well.

Best of luck in your student nursing endeavors. Work hard and something I learned the hard way is that it doesn't matter where you go, moving forward is UP TO YOU. Every professor wont be perfect, every school wont be either, but if an opportunity to get your foot in the door presents itself, take it. This school moves at a fast pace, but the content and strategy classes are what will prep you for the NCLEX, which is the common goal.

I would suggest that you look to other institutions to complete your nursing program.

First off, the above reaponse was written by an employee of the school. As such, it is not truthful and does not provide much insight.

Second, the college is nowhere close to receiving any kind of accreditation. Should you call them today and ask about accreditation, they will get very defensive. They will also tell you that they are in the process of applying for accreditation. Should you continue this line of questioning by asking which body they are applying to for accreditation, they will tell you that is something that they cannot disclose. Last I checked, it was perfectly legal to disclose the organization that you are seeking accreditation from.

Thirdly, I have checked with all the regional and national accrediting bodies and Antigua College International is not listed an an institution seeking accreditation. All of the regional and national accrediting organizations have a complete list of schools that they have accredited and a list of schools that are candidates for accreditation. I cannot find Antigua College International anywhere.

Fourth, the cost of attending this school, considering they are neither regionally or nationally accredited, is astronomical. At $345 per credit, they should have some sort of accreditation. This leaves me to believe that this is just another for profit college with an entrepreneur seeking to become rich.

Fifth, while I understand that the college is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing, their lack of regional and national accreditation will make it impossible for you to pursue advanced education at other institutions.

Sixth, I visited the college and found that the staff members are competent Spanish speakers. The only way this college would be valuable to someone is if they speak more Spanish than English and would find it very difficult to keep pace at an institution where the main language of instruction is English.

In concluding, unless you are an individual who speaks more Spansih than English, it would be a complete waste of money and time to attend this school.

P.S. If you have information contradicting anything that I have posted, feel free to share. I would be delighted to engage in critical reasoning and educate everyone on this site about this school.

That's an accreditation that basically means nothing in nursing.

Any updates on their accreditation now that it is 2019 ?

The intensive 1 course at time is very appealing. The woman with whom I spoke on the phone was sharp and well spoken, things could be evolving ?

It is expensive. What are the more affordable advisable alternative ASN programs?

For many obvious reasons I do not want to put my actual name on the line here while posting this. PLEASE PLEASE RUN AWAY FROM THIS COLLEGE. The person that wrote above is the director of the school and will of course do anything in his power to defend the schools name. This is just another school ran by an entrepreneur wanting to get rich off of doctors that come from other countries and their doctor degree doesn’t work here in the US. All they care about is the money and I will tell you the GREATEST things upon signing up. The “accreditation” That the director said above means NOTHING to the nursing community and for when you want to get a job. This school is approved which means their students are allowed to take the NCLEX but once you get your license and apply for a job..jobs will ask for the proof of accreditation of your school and you won't have that. Guys please if you are reading my comment just run. Look into other schools and just avoid this college in general. This is a mainly Spanish speaking college too. I have had the worst experience ever here and I am currently in the process of changing to another school and no schools want to take the credits that I have done here because the school isn’t accredited....this school is a big NO NO NO NO.
