Hello Everyone,
I plan to go into psychiatric nursing. I am a mental health technician now and I love this type of work. I have worked with adults, I am presently working with the children and adolescents. I love this field and I wish to continue it once I am finished with nursing school. May God Bless and Keep Us All!!!

Well I have a very strong interest in Pediatrics. I love the pediatric population. I also have an interest in Labor and delivery, Mother/Baby. My Peds/Maternity rotation is next semester so I will quickly find out if I want to do it or not. The OR is out of the picture for me. As far as ER I have been told by many people that the ER is the last place I should even think about going into because I am a pretty sensitive person at least so I am told. My dream is to become a nurse practitioner and practice in the underserved minority communities.

I am planning on working telemetry for a year or two. I would then like to go into L&D or the NICU. :)

I have 3 years left in school yet but I would like to work in NICU or Psych. I already work in the mental health field and still grabs my interest. But I also love babies. Decisions, Decisions.

I am currently working as a SNT(student nurse tech) in ICU, I really like it and will more than likely do week-end option there and then possibly do PRN work for a psych unit, in adolescents. I am just finishing up my clinicals in psych at an adolescent unit and I am really enjoying it.
Good Luck to Eveyone

Definitely ICU. I work as a tech in the cardiothoracic ICU right now, but I've decided I like the Trauma ICU much better. I live in a metro area with two Level I Trauma Centers, so finding a position I like shouldn't be hard. If I choose to get a master's degree later on, I think I'd like to be a CRNA. I'm also lucky in that regard as one of only three CRNA programs in the state is located here, so I won't have to move to get my master's.

:) I'm planning on going into L&D or NICU also. I would love to be able to help out with newborns and their parents. I'm seeking my BSN. I'm just starting my pre-reqs, so I have a long road ahead of me......

Labor & Delivery and then become a CNM (or clinical nurse specialist in maternity-newborn or perinatal nursing). Definitely looking forward to Frontier for education in midwifery if that's the route I choose. I have a way to go before that though.

I guess things really could change when I start being schooled in the hospital setting. I keep forgetting that part since I am JUST starting out with the pre classes.

what's telemetry? I've never known? I'm interested in trauma ICU, ER, want to find out more about neonatal, but I did a term paper on it, and I don't know if I could do it emotionally. Kudo's to those going into psychiatry. I've thought of that as well. I am a consumer, was hospitalized for a manic episode in my early 20's, (first and only hospitalization.) Thank god for the nurses at the hospital, and the rec therapists. It's bad enough getting 51/50'd without having peope treat you like you're sub human. It was humiliating. Thank god I'm stable on my meds now since being diagnosed, and can keep it together (mostly!!!) to work and go to school. I still talk too much and too fast, but I'm a lot slower than I used to be! Hope it's ok to reveal that here, such a stigma still with mental health. It's a shame, really. But we are professionals here.
