Mine came as a 17 year old army helicopter medic in Vietnam. Flying back and forth into the evacuation hospital at Cu Chi, I was continually amazed at the compassion and care given to our wounded, dying and often dead shown by the wonderful nurses at the receiving facility. Such loving acts to our crew also. Simple stuff as a cup of coffee, a sandwich, a coke and a hug. American gals, caught up in our common bond of **** and wanting to get home, same as us. I loved, respected and admired them. 'They' planted the seed which I nourished and was fortunate to carry the legacy forward.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I have no inspirational story to share. However, I wanted to thank you for your service to this country!

Ramstein Air Force Base, Flugtag 1988 (air show disaster). I lost a friend in a car accident a few days before that. Bad times but I was impressed by people who knew what to do to help others in times of trauma and tragedy. I was an EMT-B during 9-11, volunteered in the county where the Pentagon is located. That also made a big impression on me. Also doing paramedic clinicals in the burn unit with Pentagon survivors. I grew up as a military brat, it's no wonder I ended up in the Army eventually!
