Your loved one has to have surgery at your hospital. Let's say it's something fairly routine--a chole, a hip replacement, an appy.

What would your response be?

I hope my loved ones never end up in my hospital........I work in a prison.

My sons have actually been pts here often. Special Needs kids. Thats why I work here.

I have in the past, and I would again. I'd actually prefer that they come to my hospital rather than any other in the area.

Specializes in here and there.

:uhoh21:NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I have in the past.

Voted no- It's not that I don't think my hospital isn't the very best but for two reasons:

1) Family members of staff seem to have the most bizzare complications. Perhaps it's just because we are paying so much attention to them but there are so many examples.

2) If God forbid, something bad happens, I don't want to have to interact with the surgeon, nurses, other staff that may have contributed to my loved ones suffering. It's human nature to try to assign blame- and I don't know if I could get over it if I felt someone goofed (even a little) and it resulted in a major problem.

Specializes in Transplant/Surgical ICU.

YES!!! I would not work there if I thought they did not deliver good care, plus its one of the best in the nation!

Yes! One of the benefits of working at a hospital you know what doctors to use and the ones not to use!:nurse:
