  1. Newfoundland and Labrador has been hiring non stop for the past year 300-400 new RN's and its Health Authorities are still hiring.
  2. The worse thing is shiftwork and having to work holidays, although I work/live in Canada where self scheudling is not common. I believe there many different scheudling options in the States, so you might be ble to avoid working holiday night etc.
  3. Being refered to as a "Male Nurse" whould have to be one of the most annoying aspect of my job. I always crine when I hear it. I also feel that I have hearing it less over the past 8 years. I don't feel the name title nurse should change though.
  4. Sure, if I wasn't already married.
  5. Alot of older patients some times assume I am a doctor, or that I am in training to become one. They should that I'm not a doctor if I'm changing their attends.
  6. In my opinion there are no fringe benefits or danger zones. Just go to work, do you job and go home. No one should enter any profession looking to find a partner.
  7. My facilty does not have cell phone for nursing staff on the floor, thankfully. It's hard o answer a call it the middle of resiting a IV, doing a dressing etc. When at work a cell/pager show be left in you locker. You could check your missed called during a break or at the end of your shift.
  8. Replacement Pool (ER/ICU and Med/Surg) for me.

Hello, I just found this site, and think it's great. Been work 8+ years in the float pool of a smaller hospital. Graduated in 2000 with my Bachelor of Nursing Degree.
  10. Atlantic Canada is also a nice area. Although the pay is lower than Ontario, Alberta and BC, this part of the country is relatively safe, clean and houses are much more more affordable and the cost of living is lower.
  11. I belive all European Cell/moblie phone use GSM network technology, must Canadians phones use CDMA technology with the exception of Rogers. So you phone will on;y work with one provider.

  13. natalyia could you send me a PM regarding the Calgary company. (I'm unable to PM yet due to be a new member I assume) I'm currently looking for travel/contract work in other areas of Canada (I currently live and work in Newfoundland and Labrador). I also heard of Venture Healthcare but their website is low on details and a few years out of date. Thank You. Some more info on Solutions Services from any members would be nice as well. Thanks again.
