  1. Also, another thing about Canadian schools is that for ALL of them your have to have at least 2 years of RN experiecne before applying no exceptions.
  2. I don't really know how easy it would be for an American resident but I am a Canadian resident so it would be much easier for me to get into a school here than it would be to get into an American school. I would think it would be easier if you were an American citizen to get into a school there because there are SO many more schools that offer NP programs than in Canada. Thanks for your help! I actually didn't even know there were schools that did require the GRE to get in, so I will definietly look into those!
  3. Thanks everyone for your input!
  4. But isn't it hard to get in because there are limited spaces in each program and even less spots for international students?
  5. I have heard about people with all different amounts of experince getting accepted into the NP program and you hear different opinions on how much experience you should have when applying into the NP program but my question is do people really get in with little or no experince, is this only for people who have very high GPA and GRE scores or who are in direct-entry programs? Thanks!
  6. I completely agree with the above post you need to give yourself more credit! Those classes are very hard for everyone you are not alone there! Taking them at the same time is VERY difficult but this is the case for a lot of people but that definietly doesnt mean your should quit. Nursing school is tough but you learn how to manage and in the end all of your hard work will pay off! If it is your goal you will find a way to make it work and do whatever you have to do. Just know that it is not easy you are going to feel overwhelmed and frustrated and question whether or not you should continue (I know I have done this a couple of times) but if this is your passion you will make it:) Good luck with everything!!
  7. CONGRATS! :yeah:I would not say nursing students have NO life outside of school...it is a lot of hard work but once you learn how to manage your time well you will definietly have some free time. I find that each year you get better at organizing your time and even thought it does get tougher each year you learn how to cope. Good luck!!
  8. We did our peads/OB after our first med-surg placement...I enjoyed both! Definietly more freedom BUT with peads they are very watchful with meds because of the patient population!
  9. I agree with the above post it REALLY helps if you can go over the lecture after it has taken place...at the end of each week I would try to go over each lecture I had the past week. Although this is time consuming I found that it saved me a tonne of time when studying for tests/midterms etc. Good luck with everything!
  10. I going into my final year in September and I still find the most challenging thing to be time managment! There is always so much to do a so little time so organization is key! It is something I didn't really have to deal with much in high school because I had a lot of free time but in the nursing prorgam you really don't have much free time so you need to be very organized in order to fit everything in your schedual! As for your question about becoming a nurse being hard...I would definietly not say it is EASY, it does take a lot of hard work and commitment but once you get started and get comfortable in the new college environment things get easier..your classes and workload don't necessarily get easier but you learn how to manage better and that makes the process easier! Good luck with everything and remember that in the end all your hard work will pay off:)
  11. I had a similar problem our med-surg prof was terrible but instead of failing everyone she bell-curved all our marks...med-surg is a very detailed course and our prof was just not cutting it so I just read the textbook for all the topics she covered in class. I know this seems like a lot of work and is not very helpful but this is really the only thing that work for me and my classmates. Good luck:)
  12. Congrats! I feel the same way it is definietly possible its just takes a lot of hard work and dedication!
  13. I have felt like this so many times too! It seems like with so many of the classes I work so hard and things never end up going the way i want/expect them too. Many times I feel like I put in way more efffort than I should. But at the end of the day everyone says the same thing...just think abot the end result it will all be worth it when its over!
  14. This is a great post! VERY helpful! Thanks:)
