What's wrong with me?

Okay, I'm hoping to keep this short. I have been to the doctor and I'm waiting for an ultrasound, but that's not until June.

Since last June, my mentraual cycles have been getting shorter but my cramps have been getting worse and worse. In December my doctor told me my ferritin was 8 (normal level 12-300). By the time I went back to get bloodwork done again, I had a period that was mainly clots. Small ones, but I had never passed clots before. He told me that wasn't too significant but come back if it got worse next month.

About a week before my next period, I got really sick. Epigastric pain that was generalized, every time I ate I got sick (ended up only when I ate fatty foods and in the mid epigastric area), got diarrhea, etc. Couldn't think of what was wrong, someone suggested gall stones. But then I started passing clots the size of toonies (for you Americans, it's a large $2 coin).

But now when I have the pain, it's in the areao f my pancreas. But what's wierd is that after I'm sick for about a day (I get nauseus as well...it's a stabbing pain that goes away but comes and goes for about a day), I have frequent loose bowel movements for the next 2-3 days...this does not sound like gall stones. Then someone suggested endometriosis...

What is your opinion?

Get off the board and to a doctor!

Well I have gone to the doctor...and I'm waiting for an ultrasound...the only thing is...if it is endometriosis...then that's not detected with an ultrasound anyway. But I could be way off the wall too...

Sorry can't help and sometimes asking these sort of questions can get you responses that make you paranoid or at least needlessly worried.

Yes, I know...

I'm not into Gyne...but a friend of mine had similiar symptoms and ended up having a D&C. Is still ok with menses and it was over a year ago now. Endometriosis can be very painful I hear. Let us know the outcome if you can and good luck!

Yeah...I read a few things on endometriosis and it's hard to pinpoint anything since the S&S can be so different for everyone...so it's just a wait and see...

I've never heard of n/v/d going along with endometriosis.

It sounds to me like you need to see a DIFFERENT doctor. Preferrably a doc that won't make you wait until freakin' JUNE to get an US, and will do other tests in the meantime.

I agree with Shandy, typically, n/v/d doesn't go with along with endometriosis. It almost sound to me like you do have gallstones. Why are they making you wait so long to the ultrasound? Is this the first time you have this kind of problems with your cycle? Good luck and let us know.

I just had endometriosis removl surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago. I had n/v and severe constipation w/intermittant dia. The pain was sharp and stabbing all over my abdomen and my periods were ongodly. I didn't pass clots, but it was like the heaviest day of my period for 3 straight weeks every month. It started being really irregular two years ago and then progressed into the heavy bleeding.

Surgery happened and I am like a new human. I actually cried out of joy two weeks after surgery when I noticed how "right" everything felt in my body. So, the symptoms are really varied.

You're right. Ultrasound won't pick it up usually and your symptoms sound a lot like mine. However, endo symptoms mimic a lot of other problems and it is really necessary that you continue to get checked to r/o any other problems.

Sorry you can't rely on the bb for the answers you need, I know how frustrating the process can be.

Good luck.

Sounds like undiagnosed classic endometriosis to ME! But I am not a doctor or diagnostician.... and none of that I see here are, so what can we say? It is always prudent to seek 2nd opinions in cases where surgery and health are involved. I wish you healing and peace. Let us know what happens, whatever it is.

Thanks for your inputs...no I'm not taking what you guys are saying and diagnosing myself...that would just be stupid. The reason I have to wait until June is because that's what the waiting list is like here. In Canada, I guess things run a little different. If I went to ER with problems and was crying in pain, I would probably get in faster. I hate going to the doctor, and I don't want to have to go back to him saying that my symptoms are whacked.

The one other option that I have...we have 2 OBGYNs here in my city but only one that does US. When he gets back (he's in China Singapore, etc....so if he's not quarantined :)) I might try to get him to give me an US and then talk to him about endometriosis. He has an US machine right on the Maternity unit so it would be easy.

Thanks again...

Amanda :)
