"I was in the wrong palce at the wrong time and I hate it but I WAS there. I needed to do the right thing."

See thats exactly right, wrong place at the wrong time. The way I see it... how dare this person put you in that position. Thats what gets me about cheaters, they are only thinking of themselves, not the people around them and they deserve to get caught and penalized for what they do. You did the right thing by telling the instructor.

This was a major issue in my class. I say, worry about what you are doing only. There is no reason in college to act like you are in 3rd grade. It is not your job to be hall monitor.

What's that saying, cheaters never prosper?

I believe in karma - they may not get caught for it now, but it'll come back to bite them in the butt one of these days...

I would report it. I'd be working too hard just to see the others who are out partying while I'm home studying.

However, it was common knowledge at my previous university that the sororities would have a "bank" of previous tests. The instructors would tend to wink it off because they usually had attended the same sororities as the students.

Kinda makes you wonder. BTW, the students at that university don't have the greatest pass rate on the NCLEX.

Cheating happened all the time in the nursing program I was in. We actually had one girl turning around to look at the girl's paper behind her. There is no way the instructors were able to miss this. In fact, they even passed a girl that did not contribute to class projects, was complained about (for legit reasons) by numerous nurses during clinicals and consistently cheated on exams. It made me sick because I worked hard for my grades. I just pray she didn't and others like her, don't pass the boards.

i wouldn't tell, i would just move to an area of the classroom where the cheater(s) wasn't situated. reason being, if you tell you may become involved in something that could potentially become very ugly. nursing school is hard enough without all the issues

I was on the other end of the stick. I have a very successful study group in our nursing school, we all have A's. The rest of the class were jealous of our grades and for the first 5 quarters they would go to instructors and say we cheated. I was called in with every allegation and our tests were compared. I was furious about the "witches" who could not be happy with our success and had to try and make trouble for us.

One quarter most of my study group had clinicals together, and the instructor accused us of cheating. We used the same form as all of the students and the same textbook. So yes many of our textbook findings were the same, but not all. We proved her wrong and demanded a public appology which we got in front of the whole class.

Moral of the story: be careful of who you accuse!

I don't know if this info is true but supposedly there are about to be some new exams being given half way through clinicals. We have to pass them to move on. Anyhooo...to my point. I know of a girl who got into nursing school by cheating and still does cheat but I'm just waiting until we have to take a controlled test on a computer that she can't cheat on... I wouldn't be the one to tell, but it still irks me. Has anyone else heard of these tests???
