are you applying to LCT, SNFs?

My first job was doing flu shots, that was seasonal and lasted all of 3 months, I then got hired to pediatric home health, home health is not for a new grad, at least from my experience, I kept the job, but continued to look

I then got a list of all the nursing homes/SNFs in my area. I applied to ALL of them. Some I applied online, the others I went door to door so to say and applied.

2 weeks later I got an interivew at a SNF, it was the very last place I applied at.

It is not my dream job, but it is a job

My advice is to keep on applying to any kind of nursing job u can. It's tough out there for new grads. Good luck to all the new grads! I was in your shoes a year ago.

try to get certification that can bulk up your resume, like pals, acls, iv cert. it help me in my job search somehow. good luck!

Where are you located? I relocated to southern West Virginia, about 4.5 hours from home, and get ridiculous amounts of over time because they are so short-staffed. There are certain areas, mostly rural, that are just dying for anyone...including new grads. Let me know if you're interested, I can hook you up with several hospitals in my area that are hiring new grads left & right!

Have someone look at your resume. I had my sister tweek my resume and as soon as I did that I recieved two calls. She said my resume was awful, haha. Also always do a cover letter. Call hospitals and speak with nursing recruiter. If you can't find a job in a hospital, try assisted living, nursing homes, home health, psych, rehab. Any experience is good experience and it will help you find the job you want. I worked 3 years in assisted living facilities and I learned so much! I learned to be a charge nurse within 3 days of training and I had a huge variety of patients. I trained a few new grads at these facilities because they could not find jobs in hospitals...Also have you applied to per diem positions? Sometimes those jobs are easier to get and at least you can get your foot in the door. GOOD LUCK!!!

Have a professional nurse look at your resume. Keep applying. Can you get letters of recommendation from your professors? Can you get letters of recommendation from when you did floor nursing as a student? Sell yourself during interviews. Best of luck.

just be persistent!! i have absolutely no experience and applied to as many jobs as i could, experience required or not. i've had several interviews and a couple job offers at a couple hospitals. make them recognize your name and eventually, they'll know that you really want a job. also, nobody wants to do it, but you may have to broaden your job search. and like someone mentioned, taking some certification classes in the meantime wouldn't hurt -- good luck and have faith!

I was wondering what hospital you worked for and how are the hospitals in West Virginia for new grads.

I am going for an interview at CAMC but I haven't heard great things about it on this website.
