Nurses General Nursing

Published

I was talking to one of the secretaries from the little hospital I left 14 months ago. I ask her if conditions had improved, she said no they were worse. I said how can that be. She said that a large health orginization(UPMC) had an exclusive contract with the biggest agency and no one else could hire the agency nurses from there anymore. She said it was causing sever staffing problems. I did not know they could do that.

Oh, didn't you know...UPMC can do anything. A couple of physician groups that admitted to my non-UPMC hospital were told either they admitted their patients to UPMC hospitals exclusively or they couldn't admit to UPMC at all. Hmmm. And they tried to legally stop the West Penn-Allegheny General merger because they said it would create a monopoly!
