Recommended books for a working RN

Nurses General Nursing

I'm a working RN and I want to augment my RN knowledge on Physical Assessment, Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, and Pharmacology. I don't have time to read thick textbooks and I don't want to since I'm already finished with that during my RN student days. I want to read summarized review books type and instructional videos for clinical RN skills instead. I hope you can help me. Thank you! :nurse:

What about continuing education courses?

I recieve Nursing(enter year) and there is some great information that is presented in the magazine with current information to support best practice on some basic skills and this has helped me keep updated. This one has a med/surg focus when it comes to magazines.

I know best practice information changes as newer information comes into our hands as providers.

I have also been trying to find something other than a clinical skills book. As a practicing nurse it would be nice to have a book as you have described.

Check out the "Made Incredibly Easy" series. They have Assessment Made Incredibly Easy, Pharmacology, Fluid & Electrolytes, and specific nursing areas like Med Surg and Critical Care. They are pretty thick books, but they ready very easy. I've read most of mine front to back without too much trouble. Good luck

Hello. Good for you that you plan to enhance your nursing education and patient care by reading professional review books! One idea for exploring review book options is to go to a medical book store at a local university which has a school of nursing and a school of medicine. University medical book stores tend to have a wide variety of high quality, current text books and review books regarding several medical specialties. The "catch" is that some of these great books can be expensive, however the price is usually well worth the great information. Best wishes to you.
