Can anyone help? I have an interview with a facility in Texas today, and I need to know what average wage to expect for an RN in ICU with 10 years experience. I have no idea what I should be expected to ask for. Also, what does MICU and SICU stand for? We don't have these abbreviations in the UK. Thanx!
I'm not panicking...oh no...not me!

Salary varies from place to place and not being from TX, I can only give a ballpark. Staff position w/ 10 yrs experience should probably expect a base pay of approx. $25/hr without differentials. (Am I close Texans?)
MICU is Medical Intensive Care Unit and
SICU is Surgical Intensive Care Unit (usually)
Hope this helps you and good luck with your interview!

I am in East Texas and our wages are not as high as Dallas or Houston but someone with your experience here could expect close to $30/hr as we pay more for critical care areas. There are night and weekend diffs too. Some of our nurses earn $80+/yr in MICU or SICU or NICU. We have 350+ beds
Oh wow! Thank you guys...that sounds perfect. I'm laughing about not knowing what a MICU and SICU was...we don't have this problem in the UK. I work in a Med/Surg ICU in England but we just call it ICU...not all these fancy names you Americans have! LOL. Wages sound good...hope I can match that as that's just under what I earn now but I have to pay for the standard of living in London. Should manage quite well on that. Thanks a lot...I'll let you know if I get the job.
