I shouldn't have read this blog!! It made me angry And don't get angry lol!

I think the opposite! I think all doctors except surgeons will be replaced by robots, not nurses! Reason? Doctors are barely on the floor to see their patients , they do not provide direct care. They only answer pagers and give orders over the phone--something a robot can easily do! However, nurses wear many hats-- they provide direct pt care, they complete many tasks that require skills, pt advocate, psychologist(providing emotional support), they question orders, use critical thinking, they know when to notify the doctor, assessments, frequent observations --they multitask! Nursing profession will live forever! There are many nurses out there and just take a minute to think about this: what's affordable for hospitals: Hiring nurses who are underpaid or inventing millions of robots which will cost billions?!! My prediction of the future: doctors who are not specialized ( internal med and family MDs ) will soon be replaced by Nuse practitioners ! It's already happening!

I think the point is that people are starting to recognize the fallacy of the nursing shortage myth. But I did post a quick little reply about how no robot is taking over my job! You can take care of computers with computers, but you can't take care of people with computers.

Some very articulate responses to this article have been posted. The fact remains, we are essential, but the problem is that the people making all the money in the business of healthcare are in it ONLY for the money - they will do away with as many nurses, AND DOCTORS (it's already pretty far along in the process, wait for it, changes are coming), as possible. It will be a numbers game. What percentage of injury and death can we sustain in this business and still clear a hefty profit, even after malpractice? That will be the only considered factor.

^Agreed. Whoosah...Nurses are taking over, the writing has been on the wall for YEARS, and it's happening.
