Night Shift Newlywed...

Hello,

I work in an ED, and have just recently finished my day shift orientation. I also got married about a month ago, so we were just now getting used to my day shift schedule. I now will start orienting to nights, and will stay on nightshift post-orientation.

I am very nervous about how to shift around my husband's, and my own schedule in order to spend quality time together. I know plenty of people married, and unmarried adjust and eventually enjoy night shift, however I have never worked one so I just don't know what to expect. Does anyone have any suggestions about ways to spend time together, or just night shift advice in general? Thanks! : )

Have your husband plan on coming home for a nooner.

Kidding aside, we just planned date nights for my weekends off, cooked dinner together, sometimes met for breakfast before he went to work, watched a movie or just hung out together at home before I'd lie down for my pre-shift nap.... that kind of thing.

Congratulations on the wedding!

When u did nights we had two little ones. I'd come home, get them off to day care, and hubby and I would go to breakfast or whatever before I'd go to bed. I'd wake up in time to pick up kids, feed and bathe them, play with them and then go to work.

You make it work. Just like in day shift, you just find a way.

He comes home from work around 3, so I make sure I get up around then if possible. That's if I fall asleep immediately when I get home, which I try to do. We make my nights off a date night and if I work a weekend we may do a little morning snuggling and such.

I always got home way after him when I worked days and I felt like I never saw him anyways as I was exhausted and ready for bed when I got home. So I almost feel like we see each other a little more now. I'm newly married as well.

I will say, those first few weeks of night shift sucked because I did miss those few nights of sleeping together. But then I got used to it. He did too. We still sleep just as close on the nights we are together. I was afraid he would get used to sleeping without me.

Hasn't happened.

I'm cringing at the typo I missed correcting before time to edit expired.
