My wife's birthday help!

Hey all! I need your help here, because I have no clue where to go next. My wife's birthday is upon me, and I want to get her a new stethascope, but I don't know what I should get her. I know I want to get her a Litman one, but which model would be best for her is beyond me. I have a budget of a hundred dollars for this. A bit of info about her: She is currently working in cardiac progressive care and just got accepted for a job in labor and delivery. Right now, she's using a Litman Lightweight model stethascope she's had since she started nursing school, and she deserves better. I want to order online and the hundred dollar budget would have to include shipping costs.

Thanks for your help!

Try Redding Medical Supply. I have ordered 3 Litmann's from them. Their pricing and service are excellent. They will also engrave 2 initials free. I highly recommend them. I will definitely purchase from them again. You can purchase a good Litmann from them within your allotted budget.

What about an infant stethoscope if she's planning on staying in L&D?

My thought exactly.

Really you should ask her on this one. Stetoscopes are very personal and what one person likes another hates. If she is in cardiac and has a light weight AND she is moving out of cardiac I would not move up in quality. I'd get an

infant scope.

If she was in OB and moving to Cardiac then I would recomend you get the best possible one you could afford. I have a master cardiology. I worked in Cardiac and stepdown for years. No I use a light weight. Simply because it is lighter on my neck and I do not need a top notch scope area I am currently working.

She certainly doesn't need it in OB. But a nice little pedi scope would be a very thoughtful addition to what she currently has.

Thanks for the input! I ended up giving in and telling her what her gift was and she picked out the one she wanted. I figure it's just safer that way anyways.
