Medical Marijuana

I was approved for this today. I have a bad back and because of my liver problems my regular doctor won't give me pain meds. So I decided to take my documentation to a MMJ doctor. I had no problem getting it but it seems like everyone who goes there does.

In my state rec and med are both legal but the taxes on the rec is really high so a lot of young people fake their problems in order to get the medical kind. The state has toughened the laws regarding doctors approving under 30 but that is what I mostly saw there today and they were all male. Two came in together to get approved by saying they were in car accidents-they both looked to be in their early 20's. And from what I saw no one else had actual documentation of their condition.

On the website they say they do an examination which includes taking your vitals and such which didn't happen. It makes me wonder just how legit the industry is. I do know a couple of other people who use it-one for back pain and one for MS but they are both older like me. I have a neighbor who is young who breaks the law by sitting on his patio and smoking which bothers their upstairs neighbor who has breathing problems.

I don't know how much it's going to help me but I plan on vaping instead of smoking because the smell of this new generation of pot is disgusting. She also told me to try some of the cream. So I'll see how it goes.

Oh, and one more thing. With MMJ you're allowed to possess 2 ounces instead of the 1 for rec.

Yeah, while I'm not saying marijuana has no "medical" benefits, I assume that the various "medical marijuana" laws are being used simply as fig leafs for recreational use (does anyone really think that people are showing up and asking for it and getting turned away??)

I wonder how they get around that with people who grow their own plants. I have some friends who have four HUGE marijuana plants, and I know there is WAY more than an ounce of buds on those things!

I'm glad the option for MM is available here, but particularly now that recreational use is legal, I wish they would become more stringent with the laws on who gets a medical card.

I live in Colorado too. It just seems to that a lot of people are being approved who probably don't need and who don't want to pay for rec.

It doesn't look that way here.

As for it working, I'll let know you if it helps me. My neighbor uses his wife's ointment for his arthritis on his hands and he says it works. On the other hand their granddaughter uses the oil for Dravet's syndrome and they say it doesn't help that much.

I'm not surprised that people want to pay less- regardless of their reason for use. I'm also not sure there's anything noble about paying more.

I agree. The taxes on rec is really high and I really can't blame people for not wanting to pay more. On the other rec marijuana has bought in a lot of revenue for the cities and counties that have allowed rec shops in their jurisdictions so that should tell you that most people don't mind paying the extra taxes.

It's been a boon for Colorado. I want more people to pay the high taxes.

Not for the Springs. Our city council said no rec shops in the city so Manitou gets all the El Paso rec business.

No surprise there. Dobson has a stranglehold on the city.
