Management is so funny....the other evening we were suppose to have 4 nurses for 3-7p, but the almighty powers to be sent home the one extra nurse (who was on OT) because they decided we could get by. :( Well, guess what at 8:30 this morning I get a call from the manager wanting to know if I want to work 3-7p this evening. Don't think so...it's not happening....What I really wanted to say was, "hell, no I won't come in this evening. You guys shorted us the other night, and now you are begging for help." What goes around comes around. I hope my co-workers don't have to work short (and they probably won't, the 2nd shift float will probably get pulled), but this kind of crap ticks me off. I have put in plenty of hours this week, plus I have 2 12's tomorrow and Sunday. Let management have to work the bedside for once....:D

I hear ya deespoohbear!! You sure you ain't in AL....

Last week, after I had worked 3 12 hr shifts in a row:stone , I was off for 1 FREAKING day and they called me later that afternoon wanting me to work that NIGHT!!!! I was coming back for 2 more 12 hrs that week!!! I told them as politely as I could that there was no way in He*$ that I would come in:D

From the perspective of someone who occ works as a house mouse, I really wish the managers who make these brillant decisions to send someone home because "they'll get by" had to drag the river as it were to try and get someone to work when the manager doesn't schedule enough people or the census goes up dramatically and unexpectedly (as if it's ever unexpected anymore.) I also wish staff nurses would get in the faces of their managers who do these things rather than yellling at the sups who have to deal with the dumb decision managers make. None of the supervisors I know make the rules, we're just enforcers of stupidity. When we can we try to mediate it but it gets old having the "Monday quaterbacks" of managers yelling at you because you did what had to be done for safety's sake.
