I'm curious ... are there facilities where the nursing staff is unionized which have been granted Magnet status?

Are these two things (organization of nurses and Magnet) in line or at odds with each other?

We have a union, though it is not mandatory to be a member.

We attained Magnet this last year.

I don't see the two things being at odds with each other, but I am not really involved with the union. One of my co-workers on my old floor was very active in the Union. I'll try to track him down and ask him. When I do, I'll re-post.

I appreciate the info.

I'm just curious how this is perceived. Magnet literature discusses having nursing representation on policy-making committees, control over scheduling and other staffing issues, etc.

Union contracts often seek to achieve the same things.

But for some, unionization carries the connotation of non-professional tradespeople.

I'm just thinking out loud ... curious to hear other responses.

I work at a Magnet facility and we are also unionized. There was a lot of talk a year ago about us losing Magnet status when we went on strike, but it never happened. I just stood on the sidewalk and laughed, because "Magnet" and "strike" really don't go together, do they?!

We're both a Magnet hospital and a union hospital with a bargaining unit. It works out well for us.
