I knew this was not going to be one of my better days when I turned into the driveway at my assisted-living facility this morning and saw not one, but TWO ambulances at the entrance along with a firetruck. Should've known the... Read More

When I worked at a SNF, I had an ER nurse ask me if I pushed the patient out of the bed (this was a patient who tried to get up and fell). I was house supervisor at the time and this really made me mad! Really, you think we push our patients on the floor? I know they are also probably stressed but there is no excuse for that!

I think we need a BLACK CLOUD CLUB. I know I'd be a charter member for some of the days I've had.

I nominate VIVA for president. Seconds?

Have you ever happend to notice that when certian people work together that the poop hits the fan no matter what? Seems to be like that with me and my RRT preceptor.

We had a preceptor and orientee that whenever they were together they were just a black cloud. I dreded working with them together if I was in charge. One day there was a code on our unit and the preceptor went and helped and did CPR and ended up slipping in some saline that got on the floor and ended up in Employee health with a strain in his neck. My manager had to pass his orientee's meds, and the day just seemed to get worse from there.

I too nominate Viva to be President of the Black Cloud Club.

Viva you are an amazing writer.

OMG, that is hilarious!!! Sounds exactly like some of my other days-from-hell.......and I think y'all are right about the Black Cloud Club. Sometimes if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all---the only thing I can do about it is laugh, because otherwise I'd tear my hair out or go insane (which is a very short trip for me).

Thanks for the kind words about my writing. I do enjoy it, and if I could make a living at it, I'd quit nursing in a New York minute. But then.......what would I have to write about??

This is a hoot, and so much like stuff that I have gone through in nursing and the only thing that saved me is to keep my sense of humor. I vote for VIVA too.

Oh my God I know this feeling because I work in an assisted living facility and sometimes with days like these, you just don't know what to think or what else could POSSIBLY come your way. Blessed be all long term care nurses!
